Journal ArticleDOI
Evidence for Precipitation on Mars from Dendritic Valleys in the Valles Marineris Area
TL;DR: The results suggest a period of warmer conditions conducive to hydrological activity within the Late Hesperian units of Mars, when Mars was thought to have been cold.
Journal ArticleDOI
Constraints on the shallow elastic and anelastic structure of Mars from InSight seismic data
Philippe Lognonné,Philippe Lognonné,William B. Banerdt,William T. Pike,Domenico Giardini,U. R. Christensen,Raphaël F. Garcia,Taichi Kawamura,Sharon Kedar,Brigitte Knapmeyer-Endrun,Ludovic Margerin,Francis Nimmo,Mark P. Panning,Benoit Tauzin,John-Robert Scholz,Daniele Antonangeli,S. Nebut,S. de Raucourt,O. Robert,Christopher T. Russell,A. Sylvestre-Baron,S. Tillier,Tristram Warren,Mark A. Wieczorek,C. Yana,Peter Zweifel +115 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured the crustal diffusivity and intrinsic attenuation using multiscattering analysis and found that seismic attenuation is about three times larger than on the Moon, which suggests that the crust contains small amounts of volatiles.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phyllosilicates in the Mawrth Vallis region of Mars
Damien Loizeau,Nicolas Mangold,François Poulet,Jean-Pierre Bibring,Aline Gendrin,Veronique Ansan,Cécile Gomez,B. Gondet,Yves Langevin,Ph. Masson,G. Neukum +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used OMEGA spectra of the surface from 0.9 μm to 2.6 μm, with spatial sampling from 500 m to 3 km, offering a full coverage of the region.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: The InSight (Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport) lander is measuring Mars's atmosphere with unprecedented continuity, accuracy and sampling frequency.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mineralogy of the Nili Fossae region with OMEGA/Mars Express data: 2. Aqueous alteration of the crust
N. Mangold,François Poulet,John F. Mustard,J. P. Bibring,Brigitte Gondet,Yves Langevin,Veronique Ansan,P. Masson,Caleb I. Fassett,James W. Head,Harald Hoffmann,G. Neukum +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a strong diversity of minerals in the Nili Fossae region, including mafic minerals and phyllosilicates are found to be primarily Fe-rich smectites (a type of clay minerals).
