Journal ArticleDOI

Hydrological consequences of Eucalyptus afforestation in the Argentine Pampas

TL;DR: In this paper, the impacts of Eucalyptus camaldulensis in the Pampas grasslands of Argentina were explored for two years using a novel combination of sap flow, groundwater data, soil moisture measurements, and modeling.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vegetation–microclimate feedbacks in woodland–grassland ecotones

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigate feedbacks between vegetation and microclimatic conditions in the proximity to woodland-grassland ecotones, and find that in many arctic, alpine, desert and coastal landscapes the presence of trees or shrubs causes nocturnal warming thereby favouring the establishment and survival of woody plants.
Journal ArticleDOI

Radiative forcing of natural forest disturbances

TL;DR: This paper showed that natural disturbances from wildfire, beetle outbreaks, and hurricane wind throw can significantly alter surface albedo, and the associated radiative forcing either offsets or enhances the CO2 forcing caused by reducing ecosystem carbon sequestration over multiple years.
Journal ArticleDOI

Controls on mangrove forest‐atmosphere carbon dioxide exchanges in western Everglades National Park

TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that carbon balance in mangrove coastal systems will change in response to variable salinity and inundation patterns, possibly resulting from secular sea level rise and climate change.
