M. K. Jones,K. A. Aniol,F. T. Baker,J. Berthot,P.Y. Bertin,William Bertozzi,A. Besson,L. Bimbot,W. U. Boeglin,E. J. Brash +9 more
TL;DR: The ratio of the proton's elastic electromagnetic form factors, G(E(p))/G(M(p)), was obtained by measuring P(t) and P(l), the transverse and the longitudinal recoil proton polarization, respectively, indicating for the first time a definite difference in the spatial distribution of charge and magnetization currents in the Proton.

TL;DR: Scattering experiments show that in carbon-12 the neutron-proton pairs are nearly 20 times as prevalent as proton- Proton pairs and, by inference, neutron-neutron pairs, which has implications for understanding cold dense nuclear systems such as neutron stars.

TL;DR: New measurements of the proton electromagnetic form factor ratio using the recoil polarization method are reported, extending the range of Q2 for which G(E)(p) is accurately determined by more than 50%, which will provide significant constraints on models of nucleon structure in the nonperturbative regime.
