Journal ArticleDOI
Early viral brain invasion in iatrogenic human immunodeficiency virus infection.
Larry E. Davis,B. L. Hjelle,V. E. Miller,Darwin L. Palmer,A. L. Llewellyn,T. L. Merlin,S. A. Young,Ray Mills,William Wachsman,Clayton A. Wiley +9 more
TL;DR: A 68-year-old man who received an IV inoculation of WBCs for an indium radionuclide scan containing 600 to 700 tissue culture infectious doses of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 from an HIV-1-infected individual dies of hepatorenal syndrome and hepatic encephalopathy 15 days later.
Journal ArticleDOI
A second isolate of HTLV-II associated with atypical hairy-cell leukemia.
Joseph D. Rosenblatt,David W. Golde,William Wachsman,Janis V. Giorgi,Andrew D. Jacobs,G M Schmidt,Shirley G. Quan,Judith C. Gasson,Irvin S. Y. Chen +8 more
TL;DR: The human T-cell lymphotropic viruses Type I and Type II (HTLV-II) and the bovine leukemia virus, which are members of a family of leukemogenic mammalian retroviruses, share some of the same hallmarks.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rituximab plus concurrent infusional EPOCH chemotherapy is highly effective in HIV-associated B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Joseph A. Sparano,Jeannette Y. Lee,Lawrence D. Kaplan,Alexandra M. Levine,Juan Carlos Ramos,Richard F. Ambinder,William Wachsman,D. Aboulafia,Ariela Noy,David H. Henry,Jamie H. Von Roenn,Bruce J. Dezube,Scot C. Remick,Manisha H. Shah,Lawrence Leichman,Lee Ratner,Ethel Cesarman,Amy Chadburn,Ronald T. Mitsuyasu +18 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that concurrent rituximab plus infusional EPOCH is an effective regimen for HIV-associated lymphoma.
Journal ArticleDOI
In silico dissection of cell-type-associated patterns of gene expression in prostate cancer
Robert O. Stuart,William Wachsman,William Wachsman,Charles C. Berry,Jessica Wang-Rodriguez,Jessica Wang-Rodriguez,Linda Wasserman,Igor Klacansky,Daniel R. Masys,Karen C. Arden,Steven Goodison,Michael McClelland,Michael McClelland,Yipeng Wang,Anne Sawyers,Iveta Kalcheva,David Tarin,Dan Mercola,Dan Mercola +18 more
TL;DR: Gene expression differences for malignant and nonmalignant epithelial cells (tumor versus benign hyperplastic epithelium) could be identified without being confounded by contributions from stroma that dominate many samples or sacrificing possible paracrine influences.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of gene expression of CD34+ cells from normal and myelodysplastic bone marrow.
Wolf-K. Hofmann,Sven de Vos,Martina Komor,Dieter Hoelzer,William Wachsman,H. Phillip Koeffler +5 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that CD34(+) cells from patients with low-risk MDS lack defensive proteins, resulting in their susceptibility to cell damage, and provides evidence that in MDS, hematopoietic stem cells accumulate defects that prevent normal hematoiesis.
