Journal ArticleDOI
Treatment of high-risk acute leukemia with T-cell-depleted stem cells from related donors with one fully mismatched HLA haplotype.
Franco Aversa,Antonio Tabilio,Andrea Velardi,Cunningham I,Adelmo Terenzi,F. Falzetti,Loredana Ruggeri,G. Barbabietola,Cynthia Aristei,Paolo Latini,Yair Reisner,M F Martelli +11 more
TL;DR: The main limitations of transplantation of bone marrow from donors who are matched with the recipient for only one HLA haplotype GVHD and graft failure - can be overcome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tregs prevent GVHD and promote immune reconstitution in HLA-haploidentical transplantation
Mauro Di Ianni,Mauro Di Ianni,Franca Falzetti,Alessandra Carotti,Adelmo Terenzi,Flora Castellino,Elisabetta Bonifacio,Beatrice Del Papa,Tiziana Zei,Roberta Iacucci Ostini,Debora Cecchini,Teresa Aloisi,Katia Perruccio,Loredana Ruggeri,Chiara Balucani,Antonio Pierini,Paolo Sportoletti,Cynthia Aristei,Brunangelo Falini,Yair Reisner,Andrea Velardi,Franco Aversa,Massimo F. Martelli +22 more
TL;DR: It is shown for the first time in humans that adoptive transfer of Tregs prevented GVHD in the absence of any posttransplantation immunosuppression, promoted lymphoid reconstitution, improved immunity to opportunistic pathogens, and did not weaken the graft-versus-leukemia effect.
Journal ArticleDOI
Full Haplotype-Mismatched Hematopoietic Stem-Cell Transplantation: A Phase II Study in Patients With Acute Leukemia at High Risk of Relapse
Franco Aversa,Adelmo Terenzi,Antonio Tabilio,Franca Falzetti,Alessandra Carotti,Stelvio Ballanti,Rita Felicini,Flavio Falcinelli,Andrea Velardi,Loredana Ruggeri,Teresa Aloisi,Jean Pierre Saab,Antonella Santucci,Katia Perruccio,Maria Paola Martelli,Cristina Mecucci,Yair Reisner,Massimo F. Martelli +17 more
TL;DR: The mismatched-related transplant emerges as a viable, alternative source of stem cells for acute leukemia patients without matched donors and/or those who urgently need transplantation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Separation of mouse thymocytes into two subpopulations by the use of peanut agglutinin.
TL;DR: Binding studies with [ 125 I]PNA indicate that attachment of sialic acid residues to the PNA receptor may be an important step in the maturation of the murine thymocytes, and a new method for the separation of cell subpopulations using a lectin as a reversible probe is described.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transplantation for severe combined immunodeficiency with HLA-A,B,D,DR incompatible parental marrow cells fractionated by soybean agglutinin and sheep red blood cells.
Yair Reisner,Kapoor N,D Kirkpatrick,Pollack,Susanna Cunningham-Rundles,Bo Dupont,MZ Hodes,Robert A. Good,R.J. O'Reilly +8 more
TL;DR: This article showed that depletion of T lymphocytes by this technique can abrogate the potential of histoincompatible marrow grafts to induce lethal GVHD without limiting immunologic reconstitution.
