Journal ArticleDOI
NOD.c3c4 congenic mice develop autoimmune biliary disease that serologically and pathogenetically models human primary biliary cirrhosis
Junichiro Irie,Yuehong Wu,Linda S. Wicker,Daniel B. Rainbow,Michael A. Nalesnik,Raphael Hirsch,Laurence B. Peterson,Patrick S.C. Leung,Chunmei Cheng,Ian R. Mackay,M. Eric Gershwin,William M. Ridgway +11 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that NOD.c3c4 mice congenically derived from the nonobese diabetic strain develop an autoimmune biliary disease (ABD) that models human PBC, and the first ABD (Abd) locus is defined using a congenic mapping approach.
Journal ArticleDOI
Species-specific immune responses generated by histidyl-tRNA synthetase immunization are associated with muscle and lung inflammation.
Yasuhiro Katsumata,William M. Ridgway,Timothy B. Oriss,Xinyan Gu,David L. Chin,Yuehong Wu,Noreen Fertig,Tim D. Oury,Daniel Vandersteen,Paula R. Clemens,Carlos J. Camacho,Andrew D. Weinberg,Dana P. Ascherman +12 more
TL;DR: Mice immunized with murine Jo-1 develop a striking combination of muscle and lung inflammation that replicates features of the human anti-synthetase syndrome, and the eventual spreading of B cell epitopes that uniformly occurs 8 weeks post immunization with murines provides additional evidence of an immune response mediated by autoreactive,Jo-1-specific T cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic control of autoimmunity: protection from diabetes, but spontaneous autoimmune biliary disease in a nonobese diabetic congenic strain
Syuichi Koarada,Yuehong Wu,Noreen Fertig,David A. Sass,Michael A. Nalesnik,John A. Todd,Paul A. Lyons,Judith E. Fenyk-Melody,Daniel B. Rainbow,Linda S. Wicker,Laurence B. Peterson,William M. Ridgway +11 more
TL;DR: The NOD.c3c4 mice developed a novel spontaneous and fatal autoimmune polycystic biliary tract disease, with lymphocytic peribiliary infiltrates and autoantibodies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modulating protective and pathogenic CD4+ subsets via CD137 in type 1 diabetes.
TL;DR: A critical role for CD137 acting in the early phase of autoimmune diabetes to enhance regulatory cell production is supported, as disease-associated CD137 alleles are likely ineffectual at stimulating a regulatory T-cell population sufficient to prevent disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Murine autoimmune cholangitis requires two hits: cytotoxic KLRG1(+) CD8 effector cells and defective T regulatory cells.
Wenting Huang,Kritika Kachapati,David H. Adams,Yuehong Wu,Patrick S.C. Leung,Guo-Xiang Yang,Weici Zhang,Aftab A. Ansari,Richard A. Flavell,M. Eric Gershwin,William M. Ridgway +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors showed that co-transfer of B6 Tregs prevented dnTGFβRII CD8 T cell mediated cholangitis in mice.
