TL;DR: In this paper, an extensive set of emission factors (EFs) for over 80 gases and 5 components of submicron particulate matter (PM_1) from three wildfires in the western U.S. were measured from aircraft during the Studies of Emissions and Atmospheric Composition, Clouds and Climate Coupling by Regional Surveys (SEAC^4RS) and the Biomass Burning Observation Project (BBOP).
Journal ArticleDOI
Regional Influence of Aerosol Emissions from Wildfires Driven by Combustion Efficiency: Insights from the BBOP Campaign
Sonya Collier,Shan Zhou,Timothy B. Onasch,Daniel A. Jaffe,Lawrence I. Kleinman,Arthur J. Sedlacek,Nicole L. Briggs,Jonathan Hee,Edward C. Fortner,John E. Shilling,Douglas R. Worsnop,Robert J. Yokelson,C. Parworth,Xinlei Ge,Jianzhong Xu,Zachary Butterfield,Duli Chand,Manvendra K. Dubey,Mikhail Pekour,Stephen R. Springston,Qi Zhang +20 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that MCE can be a useful metric for describing aerosol properties of wildfire emissions and their impacts on regional air quality and global climate.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multiscale observations of CO2, 13CO2, and pollutants at Four Corners for emission verification and attribution
Rodica Lindenmaier,Manvendra K. Dubey,Bradley G. Henderson,Zachary Butterfield,Jay R. Herman,Thom Rahn,Sang-Hyun Lee +6 more
TL;DR: The first ever simultaneous column enhancements in CO2 and NO2 and evidence of δ13CO2 depletion in an urban region with two large coal-fired power plants with distinct scrubbing technologies that have resulted in ∆NOx/∆CO2 emission ratios that differ by a factor of two are reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Satellite observations reveal seasonal redistribution of northern ecosystem productivity in response to interannual climate variability
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed IAV of northern hemisphere ecosystems using several remote sensing datasets, including longstanding observations of the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and more novel metrics for productivity including solar-induced chlorophyll fluorescence (SIF) and the near-infrared reflectance of vegetation (NIRv).
