TL;DR: Sales of psychotropic substances in hidden psychotropic drugs were more common in Finland than in Norway or Sweden, and the differing trends with time and the differences between the countries pose many questions about therapeutic practices in these countries.

TL;DR: There are many possible variants of the notion of determinism which can be connected with the logical properties of empirical theories, but only a few attempts at a precise formulation of this notion can nevertheless be found.
Abstract: There are many possible variants of the notion of determinism which can be connected with the logical properties of empirical theories. There has of course been a great deal of discussion about determinism in the philosophical literature but only a few attempts at a precise formulation of this notion. Noteworthy formulations can nevertheless be found in Montague (1961) and in Wojcicki (1973).

TL;DR: In this paper, it was argued that Putnam's contention that the metaphysical realists' picture is incoherent and unintelligible is not convincing due to his failure to distinguish between formal and informal kinds of reference and, more generally, between different syntactic and semantic levels of theories.
Abstract: In a previous paper ~ we discussed briefly the problem whether modeltheoretic properties of formal semantics are, in general, of any relevance for deciding the correctness of scientific realism. Contrary to the views of Hilary Putnam (1978) and (1980), and John Winnie (1967), we argued that the adoption of a model-theoretic semantics for empirical theories is compatible with either a realist or instrumentalist view of science; and, more generally, that results of a model-theoretic nature are of minor significance for the issue of realism. In this note, we extend our discussion to examine further aspects of this question as they arise in the context of Putnam (1978). In particular, we shall argue that Putnam's contention that the metaphysical realists' picture is incoherent and unintelligible is not convincing due to his failure to distinguish between formal and informal kinds of reference and, more generally, between different syntactic and semantic levels of theories.
