TL;DR: A total of 92 samples of street dust were collected in Luanda, Angola, were sieved below 100 μm, and analysed by ICP-MS for 35 elements after an aqua-regia digestion as discussed by the authors.

TL;DR: It is concluded that increased lipid synthesis, lower MGDG/DGDG ratio, and changes in membrane unsaturation occurring during acclimation to low temperatures may be critical factors in maintenance of cellular integrity under chilling.

TL;DR: This study demonstrated that P. vivax infections were found both in humans and mosquitoes, which means that active transmission is occurring, and reinforces the idea that this parasite is able to use receptors other than Duffy to invade erythrocytes, which may have an enormous impact in P.vivax current distribution.
Abstract: Background Plasmodium vivax shows a small prevalence in West and Central Africa due to the high prevalence of Duffy negative people. However, Duffy negative individuals infected with P. vivax have been reported in areas of high prevalence of Duffy positive people who may serve as supply of P. vivax strains able to invade Duffy negative erythrocytes. We investigated the presence of P. vivax in two West African countries, using blood samples and mosquitoes collected during two on-going studies.

TL;DR: In this article, an analysis of two multigrain zircon populations and several single-grains (evaporation and vapour dissolution methods) from a late-stage mangerite vein, inferred to be cogenetic with the Kunene Complex, yielded a concordant age of 1371 ± 2.5 ǫ.

TL;DR: The authors examined the extent to which Lee's six-factor colors of love model was able to account for data gathered across a large number of countries in Africa, Asia, South America, and Europe.
Abstract: Using the Love Attitude Scale, the first objective of this study was to examine the extent to which Lee’s six-factor colors of love model was able to account for data gathered across a large number of countries in Africa, Asia, South America, and Europe. Confirmatory factor analyses showed that the structure postulated by Lee could be applied across multiple cultures. The second objective was to study possible cross-cultural variations in attitudes related to love. The hypotheses were that (a) factors involving strong personal feelings, such as mania, Eros, and agape, would be largely free of cultural influences and (b) factors involving strict social rules, and consequently low affects, such as Pragma, Storge, and Ludus, would be dependent on cultural influences. Each of these hypotheses was well supported by the data.
