15 Jan 2020TL;DR: In this article, the authors conducted an empirical study to survey schoolchildren and their parents' perceptions towards studying English as a foreign language (EFL) and found that one of the main problems is lack of motivation from the part of schoolchildren, and incomplete awareness of the importance of the foreign language.
Abstract: Studying English at elementary school plays a big role in the educational process. That is why it is necessary to pay due attention to this subject. Based on the goals set for the collection of information it was decided to conduct an empirical study, which was to survey schoolchildren and their parents’ (legal representatives) perceptions towards studying English as a foreign language (EFL). Surveys were conducted among 150 primary students and 90 parents in Moscow, Russia and Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates. The first survey was conducted to determine the students’ attitude towards a foreign language. According to the results of both surveys, one of the main problems is lack of motivation from the part of schoolchildren, and incomplete awareness of the importance of the foreign language. In addition, one more problem may be the study overload and unengaging content delivery. Several suggestions were proposed: increasing interest in foreign languages, dosing the load, using of extracurricular activities to improve academic performance and using of additional materials.

TL;DR: In this paper, the attitudes of a group of university students about managers' leadership styles and the cultural characteristics of the Jordanian society were explored and found that the surveyed students were more disposed to portray the proposed leadership styles of managers as team management style followed by country club style.
Abstract: This study explores the attitudes of a group of university students about managers' leadership styles and the cultural characteristics of the Jordanian society. The amount of research on the topic of leadership styles in Jordan is rare, particularly when associated with national culture. The outcomes demonstrated that the surveyed students were more disposed to portray the proposed leadership styles of managers as Team management style followed by Country Club style. On the other hand, when these students were asked to describe their national culture, they described it in a way similar to the Arab Group culture presented by Hofstede. Furthermore, the surveyed students gave power distance then muscularity the first confirmation. No significant relation observed between students' attitudes of leadership styles and characteristics of the Jordanian culture. Reasons for this outcome together with a few recommendations are incorporated into this study.

TL;DR: In this paper, Al-Zaytoonah University implemented a total quality management (TQM) system through applying a quality assurance system proposed by the Ministry of Education.
Abstract: Quality management is becoming an important part of any organization if it is to maintain competitive advantage in the market. In order to maintain a strong educational environment, high quality standards, and properly manage and support programs, Al Zaytoonah University; located in Jordan/Amman, began an extensive restructuring of its departments based on total quality benchmarks assigned by the Ministry of Higher Education. This research aims to shed light on the effort Alzaytoonah University, is doing on implementing a Total Quality Management (TQM) System through applying a quality assurance system proposed by the Ministry of Education. Using the Quality Assurance System, the university hopes to achieve a system enabling it to properly manage its departments, improve its relationship with both faculty and students, and give it an advantage over other educational institutions. The research also explores the opinion of teachers about the effects of applying the (TQM) System. To measure the opinion of teachers about the (TQM) applications, a questionnaire was built and evaluated by peers. The research builds on data collected from teachers in Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and researches faculty opinion on tracking the effects of applying the total quality system. The results of study will help the university to know the range of the success of its efforts to build and apply the total quality system. Finally, the research provides several suggestions on improving the total quality system application. Keywords: Total Quality, Management, Evaluation, Performance

TL;DR: This paper considers the distributed approximate top-k processing algorithms dedicated to the IoT-based networks and proposes a safety-based fault-tolerance notation and contributes to improving a known algorithm in terms of accuracy.
Abstract: Top-k considers as a technique to retrieve, from a hypothetically big data set, only the $\mathrm{k}(k\geq 1)$ best (most relevant/important) candidates. Top-k query processing is a decisive necessity in various collaborative environments that comprise big data such as the Internet of Things (IoT) networks. Particularly, efficient top-k processing in large-scale distributed systems has shown a positively noticeable effect on their performance. This paper considers the distributed approximate top-k processing algorithms dedicated to the IoT-based networks and improve the accuracy of algorithms introduced previously. We then propose a safety-based fault-tolerance notation and contribute to improving a known algorithm in terms of accuracy. Our algorithms have been evaluated using simulation and real-world data and show superiority over conventional methods.

19 Oct 2018TL;DR: This work improves the CPN model for the embedded systems and outlines a technique that exploits CPN Tools, a well-known CPN tool, to efficiently analyze embedded system's state space and find optimal allocations.
Abstract: We extend an approach to component allocation on heterogeneous embedded systems using Coloured Petri Nets (CPNs). We improve the CPN model for the embedded systems and outline a technique that exploits CPN Tools, a well-known CPN tool, to efficiently analyze embedded system's state space and find optimal allocations. The approach is model-based and represents an advancement towards a model-driven engineering view of the component allocation problem. We incorporate communication costs between components by extending the CPN formalism with a non-trivial technique to analyze the generated state space. We also suggest a technique to improve the state space generation time by using the branching options supported in CPN Tools. In the evaluation, we demonstrate that this technique significantly cuts down the size of the generated state space and thereby reduces the runtime of state space generation and thus the time to find an optimal allocation.
