TL;DR: In this article, a new liquid level sensor based on in fiber Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) is proposed and demonstrated, which is formed by cascading two peanut-shaped fiber structures in singlemode fiber.
Abstract: A new liquid level sensor based on in fiber Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) is proposed and demonstrated. The MZI is formed by cascading two peanut-shaped fiber structures in single-mode fiber. In the water level experiment, the sensitivities of sensors with lengths of 53.5 and 75.4 mm are -0.1025 and -0.0279 nm/mm, respectively. The absolute value of sensitivity increases with the refractive index of liquid. The MZI presented in this paper has advantages of low cost and ease of fabrication, which can be a potential advantage in the liquid level measurement.

TL;DR: MoSe 2 -TiO 2 composites were successfully synthesized via a facile solvothermal method as discussed by the authors, which showed that the introduction of TiO 2 into MoSe 2 boosts the light harvesting efficiency and charge separation and transfer due to their synergistic effect, thus enhancing the visible light photocatalytic activity.
Abstract: MoSe 2 -TiO 2 composites were successfully synthesized via a facile solvothermal method. Their morphology, structure and photocatalytic activity in the reduction of Cr(VI) were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, UV–vis absorption spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and electrochemical impedance spectra, respectively. The results show that the introduction of TiO 2 into MoSe 2 boosts the light harvesting efficiency and charge separation and transfer due to their synergistic effect, thus enhancing the visible light photocatalytic activity of MoSe 2 with a maximum Cr(VI) reduction rate of 91% at 120 min compared with pure MoSe 2 (61%) and TiO 2 (5%).

TL;DR: The results suggest that the solute hydration creates electric fields that lengthen and soften the O:H nonbond and meanwhile shorten and stiffen the H-O bond through O-O Coulomb repulsion, which requires excessive energy for the same sequence of phase transitions.
Abstract: In situ Raman spectroscopy revealed that transiting H2O/NaX (∼64) solutions into an ice VI phase and then into an ice VII phase at a temperature of 298 K requires excessive pressures with respect to pure water. The increase of the critical pressures varies with the solute type in the Hofmeister series order: X = I > Br > Cl > F ∼ 0. The results suggest that the solute hydration creates electric fields that lengthen and soften the O:H nonbond and meanwhile shorten and stiffen the H–O bond through O–O Coulomb repulsion. Compression, however, does the opposite to solute electrification upon the O:H–O bond relaxation. Therefore, compression of the aqueous solutions recovers the electrification-deformed O:H–O bond first and then proceeds to the phase transitions, which requires excessive energy for the same sequence of phase transitions. Ice exclusion of solute disperses the frequencies of characteristic phonons and the critical pressures with unlikely new bond formation.

TL;DR: In this paper, a novel multiple-loop control system in 400Hz inverter power supply based on unipolar sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) is proposed to keep phase balance and improve output voltage quality.
Abstract: To keep phase balance and improve output voltage quality, a novel multiple-loop control system in 400-Hz inverter power supply based on unipolar sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) is proposed. The causes of phase imbalance in a three-phase combined inverter power system are analyzed, and a new multiple-loop control strategy based on phase control is presented to eliminate it. For reducing the total harmonic distortion (THD) of high-power inverter output, unipolar SPWM is added with this new control strategy. The designs of drive circuit and snubber circuit are discussed to eliminate dead time effects and voltage oscillation. The stability of the control system is analyzed and the power system and the control strategies are realized with digital signal processing. Contrastive simulation results indicate the advantages and the correctness of this novel controller for inverter. A three-phase combined inverter system based on a multiple-loop control strategy is constructed, and experimental results show that the inverter system can make a phase difference between each phase less than 2°, and the THD of output voltage can be controlled within 2%.
