TL;DR: In this article, a mixed-integer linear programming model is proposed for cost optimization for harvesting, loading and transportation operations in a Peruvian bio-fuels company, which showed a cost reduction of around 11 % when compared to the current costs.
Abstract: Due to opportunities for economic and social development in the biofuels market, improvement to the supply chain has become a relevant matter. In agro-industrial supply chains, procurement costs are highly relevant. Since sugarcane is a high performance raw material for ethanol production, this paper proposes a Mixed-Integer Linear Programming Model for cost optimization for harvesting, loading and transportation operations. The model determines the quantity of machines and workers to meet the biofuel plant requirements. Costs of resources for harvesting and loading as well as transportation costs from the land parcel to the production plant are minimized. Also, the model calculates the cost of penalties for shortages (unmet demand) and the cost of equipment idle time. The implementation of the model in a Peruvian biofuels company, showed a cost reduction of around 11 % when compared to the current costs.

Abstract: This paper accounts for the process that led to the construction of a public policy about teaching assesment in Colombia. Teaching performance assessment in this country has been a controversial issue during the last decades, as it is one of the tools favored by the government to impact the quality of education. The discussion about its pertinence, its conception and its characteristics becomes the meeting point of different actors that, while looking for the best option to characterize teachers’ performance and assessment, have allowed for the statement of some public policy trends on the issue. The paper accounts for this process.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an overview of the progress achieved by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Colombia in the institutionalization of the environmental engagement, highlighting the need to generate self-regulation and institutional improvement strategies and to promote processes for further research.
EnglishThe aim of this article is to present an updated overview of the progress achieved by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Colombia in the institutionalization of the environmental engagement. The document explores the incorporation of environmental issues into domains including, in addition to the fundamental activities—teaching, research, and extension—institutional policies and participation, and environmental planning and management. A survey was conducted with 60 private and public HEIs located in different regions of the country. This is a qualitative exploratory research supported by analysis of descriptive statistics. It was carried out based on a scale fixed for each domain, which uses percentages as a basis for indicating the levels of environmental engagement of each of the HEIs. Governance and participation constituted the highest-performing domain, showing the interest of the HEIs in strengthening environmental policies. Campus management and planning was the less-performing domain. Abstract: The text tries to make a rapprochement with the central elements of the theory of fields of Pierre Bourdieu in order to generate a reflection on the dynamics of the contemporary law. This text take a reference the legal systems of countries such as Chile, Argentina, Peru and Mexico in the decades of 1990-2010, to review and to characterize the introduction of the neoliberal discourse as a key piece of the field training latinamerican legal.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented the application of data mining to identify the psychosocial risk level in teaching elementary, middle and high school education in Colombia, and compared the performance when applying data mining techniques and classification trees J48 and Naive Bayes.
EnglishThis paper proposed the application of data mining to identify the psychosocial risk level in teaching elementary, middle y high school education in Colombia. A sample of 1100 data records corresponding to individual assessments were analyzed and processed. The samples were used as input data to the data mining tool called WEKA. Results were compared to assess the performance when applying data mining techniques and classification trees J48 and Naive Bayes. Finally, the application of this predictive tool allows the accuracy 91% compared to the clinic diagnostic. It is concluded that the method can be used tool for preventing the occurrence of psychosocial risk factors in Colombian public school teachers.
