Abstract: The phase diagram of the Li-Bi binary system was amended by x-ray analysis and differential scanning calorimetry. The formation of the binary compound Li2Bi was confirmed and its structure determined by x-ray single crystal diffraction. The Li2Bi compound crystallizes with the Mg2Ga structure type (space group P-62c, hP18, a = 8.0712(4) A, c = 6.8352(3) A). The analysis of the interatomic distances together with electronic structure calculations using the tight-binding linear muffin-tin orbital atomic spheres approximations (TB-LMTO-ASA) indicate the dominance of a metallic type of bonding, although there is a weak partially ionic bonding, caused by charge transfer from Li to Bi.

Abstract: Waste heat utilisation and its reclamation is important for increasing the efficiency of the electric power production and for decreased consumption of primary energy. Waste heat can be utilised for the electric power production or for manufacturing and processing purposes. According to long-term forecasts, the consumption of electric power with current consumption of about 150 TWh, can be increased to about 230 TWh in around 2040, what may lead to the increased energy consumption from fuels and the increased emission of harmful contaminants to the atmosphere. The cement subsector, next to the glass industry, is among the most power-consuming industries, and it consumes about 12-15% of total energy consumed by industry in total, whereas the CO2 emission from such industry exceeds about 5% in worldwide scale. In the cement sector, there is an increasing need for useful reclamation of waste energy, in order to obtain high energy-saving factors, and hence the financial and environmental benefits. In this paper the chances for waste energy reclamation from a rotary kiln are presented, with means of the used adsorption chillers.

Abstract: The first experience in the operation of intensified heat transfer adsorption bed reactor designed for low-pressure adsorption processes is presented in this paper. This work aims to assess the possibility of fluidizing the porous media bed induced by the pressure difference between the evaporator and the adsorption reactor. The conducted experimental research allowed indicating the type of silica gel recommended to use in fluidized beds of adsorption chiller. The fixed bed of silica gel was observed for the lower pressure differences, while fluidization appeared in the case of the pressure difference between the evaporator and the adsorption chamber higher than 1000 Pa. The most significant differences in the adsorption process between the fixed bed and the fluidized bed are revealed in the changes of sorbent temperatures. The silica gel bed was fluidized with water vapor generated in the evaporator.

Abstract: OBJECTIVES The purpose of the study has been to describe functioning of single and mothers in relationships (married or in informal relationships) at work and verify if the declared degree of work satisfaction differentiates types of behavior at work and stress coping strategies in both groups of mothers. MATERIAL AND METHODS The study was conducted on equal samples of single mothers (N = 186) and mothers from 2-parent families (N = 186) using Latack Coping Scale that measures work-related stress coping strategies, the AVEM (Arbeitsbezogenes Verhaltens- und Erlebensmuster - Work-Related Behavior and Experience Pattern) questionnaire, and a survey. It showed similarity between the studied groups in terms of the measured variables. RESULTS There were considerable differences between single and married mothers in terms of support seeking strategies. The interaction of work satisfaction and the type of motherhood significantly differentiates (p = 0.03) the avoidance strategy of resignation. CONCLUSIONS That strategy of resignation was more frequently used by single mothers with lower work satisfaction, who were distinctly different from those whose work satisfaction was higher, and from the mothers in relationships (married or in informal relationships) (regardless of the level of their work satisfaction).
