TL;DR: In this paper, a handover of a mobile terminal is supported by a heterogeneous network handover module that is configured to provide convergence of information from at least one network interface module associated with one of a homogeneous and heterogeneous networks into a unified presentation.
Abstract: The present invention relates to supporting a handover of a mobile terminal. Preferably, the present invention performs a scan of a neighboring network different from a current network of the mobile terminal to determine the presence of an accessible link of the neighboring network for performing a handover, wherein the mobile terminal comprises a heterogeneous network handover module that is configured to provide convergence of information from at least one network interface module associated with one of a homogeneous and heterogeneous network into a unified presentation. An information message is then received from the neighboring network, wherein the information message comprises an information element associated with whether the neighboring network is capable of communicating with the heterogeneous network handover module of the mobile terminal.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a physical channel allocation method of a mobile communication system and a communication method using the same which is capable of allocating physical channels efficiently for a RACH (Random Access Channel) and a CPCH (Common Packet Channel) having extra up link scrambling code in a next generation mobile communications system.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a physical channel allocation method of a mobile communication system and a communication method using the same which is capable of allocating physical channels efficiently for a RACH (Random Access Channel) and a CPCH (Common Packet Channel) having extra up link scrambling code in a next generation mobile communication system, the communication method of the mobile communication system in accordance with the present invention comprises transmitting a preamble signature code Csig,s generated by using one signature among a plurality of signatures AP#s and a PRACH access preamble code Cpre,n,s generated by using one PRACH preamble scrambling code SC#i among a x-number of PRACH preamble scrambling codes SC#m permitted to the pertinent cell along with an AP (Access Preamble) through a RACH from a terminal to a base station, receiving an AI informing a usage of the signature by decoding a signature included in the received AP and the kind of the PRACH scrambling code from the base station by the terminal, and transmitting a message of the terminal to the base station by using a channelizing code determined by the approved signature and PRACH message part scrambling code MSC#m, accordingly the terminal and base station can communicate efficiently.

TL;DR: An adaptive load balancing technique for RFID middleware systems to meet the demands of scalability and heterogeneity is proposed and implemented in the RFID Middleware Load Management System.
Abstract: In recent years, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) industries have taken a great interest in utilizing the benefits of RFID for supply chain management, inventory control and various other applications. This paper proposed an adaptive load balancing technique for RFID middleware systems to meet the demands of scalability and heterogeneity. First, we explored five basic load balancing policies, namely, information policy, job selection policy, transfer policy, initiation policy and location policy. Eighteen load balancing schemes were then proposed for RFID middleware systems that were combinations of various types of the five basic load balancing policies. Our empirical study suggested that these load balancing strategies performed differently under different workload statuses. Finally, an adaptive load balancing strategy was proposed. The load balancing schemes and the proposed adaptive load balancing strategy have been implemented in the RFID Middleware Load Management System (RM-LMS). Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose a data structure having at least first and second clip stream files and a playlist consisting of at least one playitem and at least sub-playitem, indicating at least a portion of the first clip stream file to reproduce.
Abstract: The recording medium includes a data structure having at least first and second clip stream files and a playlist. The first clip stream file includes video data representing at least one still image, and the second clip stream file includes at least audio data. The playlist includes at least one playitem and at least one sub-playitem. The playitem indicates at least a portion of the first clip stream file to reproduce, and the sub-playitem indicates at least a portion of the second clip stream file to reproduce.
