TL;DR: In this paper, a data processing system comprising first and second computers (101,201) and respectively associated first-and second transducers (103A, 203A) connected via respective first- and second data highways (102,202) to their associated computers, the transducers being enabled upon receiving of associated predetermined address codes output by the computers on respective first/second address highways (110,210), the address highways being linked (310), the data highway being linked, and the computers and transducers were arranged so that each computer addresses its associated transducer with the same first
Abstract: A data processing system comprising first and second computers (101;201) and respectively associated first and second transducers (103A; 203A) connected via respective first and second data highways (102;202) to their associated computers, the transducers being enabled upon receipt of associated predetermined address codes output by the computers on respective first and second address highways (110;210), the address highways being linked (310), the data highways being linked (302) and the computers and transducers being arranged so that each computer addresses its associated transducer with the same first address code. In order to obviate the need for complicated switching the address link comprises a converter (314,315) for converting an address code on either address highway into a different, related address code on the other address highway, and each computer is arranged to address its non-associated transducer with the same second address code convertible into the first address code by the converter. Where the address codes are binary digital codes the converter may be an inverter for inverting a predetermined digit of an address code. The system may monitor the condition of the computers (FIG. 2, not shown) and enable a selected one of the computers accordingly. Each computer may be arranged normally to access its associated transducer and to access its non-associated transducer if a fault occurs in its associated transducer. A third transducer (303A) may also be provided.

TL;DR: In this paper, a gas turbine engine fuel control system comprising a first-burner supply conduit and at least one second-stage supply conduit, a fuel pump which communicates with both said conduits so as to be adapted to supply fuel thereto, first and second restrictors respectively provided in the first-and second-burners supply conduits, a flow control valve which is connected in the 1.1 burner supply conduit downstream of the first restrictor.
Abstract: The invention concerns a gas turbine engine fuel control system comprising a first burner supply conduit and at least one second burner supply conduit, a fuel pump which communicates with both said conduits so as to be adapted to supply fuel thereto, first and second restrictors respectively provided in the first and second burner supply conduits, a flow control valve which is connected in the first burner supply conduit downstream of the first restrictor, the flow control valve controlling fuel flow therethrough in dependence upon the value of at least one engine variable, and valve means in the second burner supply conduit downstream of the second restrictor therein, the valve means being controlled in dependence upon the difference in the pressure in the first burner supply conduit downstream of the first restrictor and upstream of the flow control valve, and the pressure downstream of the second restrictor.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reported a 4.8 T peak trapped magnetic field, B T, achieved at 30 K in a 36 mm diameter GdBa2Cu3O7-δ -Ag bulk superconductor using pulsed field magnetization (PFM).
Abstract: A robust and reliable in-situ magnetization method is essential for exploiting the outstanding magnetic flux trapping ability of bulk superconductors in practical applications. We report a 4.8 T peak trapped magnetic field, B T, achieved at 30 K in a 36 mm diameter GdBa2Cu3O7-δ -Ag bulk superconductor using pulsed field magnetization (PFM). To realize this, we have developed a reliable two-step multi-pulse PFM process based on understanding and exploiting the avalanche-like flux jump phenomenon observed in these materials. The magnitude of the applied pulsed magnetic field (B a) necessary to trap 4.8 T was merely 5.29 T, corresponding to a remarkable magnetization efficiency (B T/B a) of 90%.

TL;DR: In this article, a circuit for eliminating the effects of spurious signals from a pyrometer in a gas turbine engine is presented, where the pyrometers signal is fed to a part of the circuit (8,12,16,20,24,24) which produces an inverted and rate limited output signal c representative of the pyromancer output signal.
Abstract: A circuit is provided for eliminating the effects of spurious signals from a pyrometer in a gas turbine engine. The pyrometer signal is fed to a part of the circuit (8,12,16,20,24) which produces an inverted and rate limited output signal c representative of the pyrometer output signal. Signal c is fed back to the input of amplifier 8 and is subtracted from it and amplifier 8 outputs a positive or negative signal depending on whether or not its input is positive or negative. The output is passed to a positive edge triggering device 28 which triggers a sample and hold device 30 the output of which constitutes the output of the circuit. When the pyrometer signal increases very rapidly due to a spurious signal, the input to the amplifier 8 rises more rapidly than the rate limited feedback from amplifier 12 so that the output goes positive to trigger device 28 and remains positive until the spurious signal has died away. The sample and hold device 30 thus holds the last sampled pyrometer signal and is not affected by the spurious signal.
