Abstract: The purpose of this article is to develop a goodness-of-fit test based on score test statistics for cumulative logit models with extra variation of random effects. Two main theorems for the proposed score test statistics are derived. In simulation studies, the powers of the proposed tests are discussed and the power curve against a variety of dispersion parameters and bandwidths is depicted. The proposed method is illustrated by an ordinal data set from Mosteller and Tukey [23].

TL;DR: In this paper, a spatially modulated sinusoidal electric field can significantly tune the magneto-absorption spectra of a graphene ribbon, and the pattern of absorption spectra evolves with the amplitude of electric potential (V0).
Abstract: This study shows that a spatially modulated sinusoidal electric field can significantly tune the magneto-absorption spectra of a graphene ribbon. The pattern of absorption spectra evolves with the amplitude of electric potential (V0). When V0 is weaker than the state energy of the first Landau level, E1, the modulated electric field not only changes the peak intensity and peak position of the absorption lines, but also generates new peaks. These additional peaks follow the unusual optical selection rule. When V0 is stronger than E1, the intensity of original peaks, induced by the uniform magnetic field, shrinks, and an anomalous lowest peak appears. Most importantly, the energy position of the first peak strongly depends on both the amplitude of the electric potential and the strength of the magnetic field. These characteristics can be used to modulate the threshold frequency of the magneto-absorption spectra.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used thermo recorder equipment to record and measure the micro-climate record for the residence house and the rice barn in Tana Toraja of Sulawesi, Indonesia, and found that the interior environment is more comfortable for human residence in the Tongkonan; at the same time, rice barn is presented as the best storage space for their rice and crops.
Abstract: Fallow the nature makes it vernacular have always been the highest principles of vernacular architecture. This research uses Toraja traditional residence houses ( Tongkonan ) and the rice barn (alang-alang)in Tana Toraja of Sulawesi, Indonesia. Through this, we attempt to understand how vernacular architecture effectively controls the indoor environment in the high-temperature, high humidity environment to achieve comfortableness with local materials attained and construction methods. By using thermo recorder equipment to recording and measuring the microclimate record for the residence house and the rice barn. After investigation, comparison and analysis of temperature and relative humidity we discover that the interior environment is more comfortable for human residence in the Tongkonan; at the same time the rice barn is presented as the best storage space for their rice and crops. Both types of buildings create a most habitable environment for people and storage space for grains. It also proves that natural material is an efficient resource for local community as sustainable matter.

22 May 2016TL;DR: Simulation results confirm the benefits of this scheme to endure a higher impact of PV penetration, anticipating mitigating the impact of a larger amount of PV systems connected to the distribution network.
Abstract: This paper proposes to install an additional distribution transformer to convert the open-wye/open-delta connection to wye/delta connection, anticipating mitigating the impact of a larger amount of PV systems connected to the distribution network. To validate the proposed scheme, various amounts and connections of PV systems are analyzed along with the examination of different scenarios. Simulation results confirm the benefits of this scheme to endure a higher impact of PV penetration. The outcomes gained from these tests are practically useful for utility engineers to make planning decisions.
