TL;DR: Dog ( Canis familiaris) and sled remains found together suggest that the first sled dogs arose approximately 10,000 years ago, and were essential to the Inuit's conquest of the Arctic.
Abstract: Dog ( Canis familiaris ) and sled remains found together suggest that the first sled dogs arose approximately 10,000 years ago ([ 1 ][1]). The ancestors to current sled dog breeds were essential to the Inuit's conquest of the Arctic. Sled dogs provided the main transport and hunting platform ([ 2 ][

TL;DR: In this article, the authors reevaluated quantitatively the patterns of Mexican regional real wages providing new estimates for the period 1877-c1910, revealing that a divergent pattern between sectors and regions emerged during these years.
Abstract: Seminal literature has documented broadly the living conditions of Mexican workers before the Revolution of 1910 Various authors argue that a continuous deterioration of real wages in the preceding years of the Mexican revolution contributed to the social unrest that lead to the armed conflict Yet, most of the quantitative evidence has focused on aggregate estimates overlooking the regional wage dynamics Through regional historical data, this article reevaluates quantitatively the patterns of Mexican regional real wages providing new estimates for the period 1877-c1910 The analysis reveals that a divergent pattern between sectors and regions emerged during these years However, the study also shows that in general, locally-adjusted regional real wages remained relatively stable throughout the period

TL;DR: The prevalence of diagnosed DM in Greenland remains low although increasing and testing for DM using A1C as diagnostic tool is used in Greenland, suggesting that Undiagnosed DM may still be an important issue in Greenland.
Abstract: Background The prevalence of undiagnosed diabetes mellitus (DM) in Greenland has been reported very high with only 30% of cases diagnosed. In 2010, glycosylated hemoglobin (A1C) was introduced as a diagnostic tool in Greenland. However, the current use of A1c is unknown as well as the current prevalence of diagnosed DM. The aim of this study was firstly to estimate the use of A1C as diagnostic tool within the first 27 months after introducing the method and secondly to estimate the age and gender specific prevalence of diagnosed DM in Greenland in 2012.

TL;DR: The Greenlandic Perspectives Survey (GPS) as mentioned in this paper is a nationally representative survey of residents' views of environmental changes and Greenland's future in a changing climate, which was conducted by the University of Copenhagen, University of Greenland, Kraks Fond Institute for Urban Research and Greenland Perspective.
Abstract: This report presents the findings from the Greenlandic Perspectives Survey (GPS), a nationally representative survey of residents’ views of environmental changes and Greenland’s future in a changing climate. The survey was conducted by the University of Copenhagen, the University of Greenland, Kraks Fond Institute for Urban Research and Greenland Perspective. With statistical support from Statistics Greenland, surveys were randomly allocated to residents living in randomly selected towns and settlements across Greenland’s municipalities and geographic regions, as well as Nuuk and Upernavik. 646 residents in Greenland (~1.5% of the adult population) took the survey from July 2018 - January 2019. Average margin of error: +/- 3 percentage points at the 95% confidence level. Additional details about the sampling method can be found in the appendix of the report. The research was funded by Kraks Fond Institute for Urban Research, with additional support provided by Greenland Perspective and the Copenhagen Center for Social Data Science. Several filmed interviews were conducted in each location which can also be viewed online: Film 1: Greenlandic Perspectives on Climate Change (6:14) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZzryLDOp8w (English subtitles) https://youtu.be/OG5eS2tDpuk (Danish subtitles) Film 2: On and Off Thinning Ice (5:24) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlGDEibM0eA (English Subtitles) https://youtu.be/VJcQMQT-LTA (Danish subtitles) Read the report in Greenlandic via Ilisimatusarfik (University of Greenland) https://uni.gl/media/5167894/greenlandic_perspectives_climate_change_report_greenlandic_highres.pdf

TL;DR: This article introduced the Koselleckian conceptual history approach (Begriffsgeschichte) and the principle of a broader selection of texts than in the traditional history of ideas to provide a fuller account of usages of the concept, thereby opening up for alternative conceptions of the inventions and development of democracy.
Abstract: In traditional approaches to the history of political ideas, the history of democracy is uniformly studied concerning the point of departure, selection of canonical texts, etc. The paper introduces the Koselleckian conceptual history approach (Begriffsgeschichte) and the principle of a broader selection of texts than in the traditional history of ideas to provide a fuller account of usages of the concept, thereby opening up for alternative conceptions of the inventions and development of democracy.
