TLDR
This RFLP study in B. napus provides important information on genome organization of functional DNA sequences and complements the current RFLp mapping effort in Brassica oleracea.
Abstract
F2 segregation analyses of DNA restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs) detected between two cultivars of canola ('Westar' × Topas') was used to construct a detailed genetic map of Brassic...

The draft genome and transcriptome of Cannabis sativa

TL;DR: The availability of the Cannabis sativa genome enables the study of a multifunctional plant that occupies a unique role in human culture and will aid the development of therapeutic marijuana strains with tailored cannabinoid profiles and provide a basis for the breeding of hemp with improved agronomic characteristics.

Chromosomal regions associated with segregation distortion of molecular markers in F2 , backcross, doubled haploid, and recombinant inbred populations in rice (Oryza sativa L.)

TL;DR: Ch Chromosomal regions associated with marker segregation distortion in rice were compared based on six molecular linkage maps, suggesting that loci in these regions may be associated with preferential regeneration of japonica genotypes during anther culture.

Genetic Markers, Map Construction, and Their Application in Plant Breeding

TL;DR: The purpose of this paper is to describe available marker types and examine factors critical for their use in map construction and MAS, and defines the potential use of genetic maps for MAS.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification of the A and C genomes of amphidiploid Brassica napus (oilseed rape).

TL;DR: A genetic linkage map consisting of 399 RFLP-defined loci was generated from a cross between resynthesized Brassica napus and "natural" oilseed rape demonstrating that the majority of loci exhibited disomic inheritance of parental alleles demonstrating that B. rapa chromosomes were each pairing exclusively with recognisable A-genome homologues in B. napus.

Comparative Genomics of Plant Chromosomes

TL;DR: Comparative genomics, the study of similarities and differences in structure and function of the hereditary information in different taxa, uses molecular tools to investigate notions that far preceded the discovery that DNA was the hereditary molecule.

Detection of specific sequences among DNA fragments separated by gel electrophoresis.

TL;DR: This paper describes a method of transferring fragments of DNA from agarose gels to cellulose nitrate filters that can be hybridized to radioactive RNA and hybrids detected by radioautography or fluorography.

DNA polymorphisms amplified by arbitrary primers are useful as genetic markers

TL;DR: A new DNA polymorphism assay based on the amplification of random DNA segments with single primers of arbitrary nucleotide sequence is described, suggesting that these polymorphisms be called RAPD markers, after Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA.

Labeling deoxyribonucleic acid to high specific activity in vitro by nick translation with DNA polymerase I

TL;DR: Labeled DNAs (and restriction endonuclease fragments derived from them) are useful probes for detecting rare homologous sequences by in situ hybridization and reassociation kinetic analysis.

Construction of a genetic linkage map in man using restriction fragment length polymorphisms.

TL;DR: A new basis for the construction of a genetic linkage map of the human genome is described, to develop, by recombinant DNA techniques, random single-copy DNA probes capable of detecting DNA sequence polymorphisms, when hybridized to restriction digests of an individual's DNA.

MAPMAKER: An interactive computer package for constructing primary genetic linkage maps of experimental and natural populations

TL;DR: A computer package, called MAPMAKER, designed specifically for the construction of linkage maps in a number of organisms, including the human and several plants, and it is outlined the mapping strategies that have been used.
