TLDR
In this paper, it was shown that in a nonlinear elastic semi-infinite medium possessing the property of self-focusing of shear waves, besides bulk nonlinear shear wave, new surface acoustic waves exist, localization of which near the boundary is entirely due to nonlinear effects.

Some New Ideas in the Theory of Surface Acoustic Waves in Anisotropic Media

TL;DR: In this article, four different problems related to the theory of surface acoustic waves in crystals are investigated. The first three are solved exactly and the last one is solved by a perturbation method.

Nonlinear bulk and surface shear acoustic waves in materials with hysteresis and end-point memory

TL;DR: In this paper, it is demonstrated that odd harmonic generation and hysteresis absorption lead to the transformation of a monochromatic signal into a sawtooth-shaped wave.

Physical and Mathematical Models of Nonlinear Waves in Solids

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors introduced a continuum and discrete (lattice) models of solids such as in elasticity and anelasticity with special attention paid to nonlinearity and dispersion, and extended these models to solids with a microstructure of mechanical or electromagnetic origin.

Surface wave at a nonlinear interface.

TL;DR: It is shown that an interface between two dielectric media, where the lower-refractive-index material has a positive optical Kerr coefficient, can support a two-dimensional optical surface wave that propagates along the interface with a constant shape and intensity.

Exact theory of nonlinear p-polarized optical waves.

TL;DR: It is found that the variation of the power flow along the guiding surface with effective index, for negative linear dielectrics, will always exhibit a maximum and this maximum may be reached for fairly modest nonlinear changes in the refractive index.

s-Polarized nonlinear surface polaritons

TL;DR: In this article, an exact solution of Maxwell's equations is found, corresponding to ans-polarized nonlinear surface polarition, at the planar interface between two dielectric media, one of which is optically unaxial and is characterized by a diagonal tensor whose elements depend on the amplitude of the electric field according to e11=e22=e0(ω)+a(ω) (|E1|2+|E2|2), e33=e(ω).
