Abstract
It is suggested that low-power digital radio as an access technology could be integrated into a local exchange network to provide a ubiquitous personal communications network (PCN). High-quality tetherless communications services that could be provided by such an exchange-network-based PCN are described. A possible low-power exchange access digital radio system for providing these exchange-network based PCS services is discussed. The radio system uses a spectrum-efficient time-division multiple-access (TDMA) architecture made possible by advanced digital signal processing techniques. Control of the frequency reuse system is described, and frequency spectrum needs are indicated. >

TL;DR: The principles of radio propagation in indoor environments are reviewed, the channel is modeled as a linear time-varying filter at each location in the three-dimensional space, and the properties of the filter's impulse response are described.

An architecture and methodology for mobile-executed handoff in cellular ATM networks

TL;DR: An architecture is presented for a high-speed cellular radio access network based on ATM transport technology which avoids the need to involve the network call processor for every cell handoff attempt and which can readily support a very high rate of handoffs.

Queueing priority channel assignment strategies for PCS hand-off and initial access

TL;DR: The authors observe that giving priority to hand-off attempts over initial access attempts would dramatically improve the forced termination probability of the system without seriously degrading the number of failedInitial access attempts.
