TLDR
In the first part of this two article series on the imperative technologies for wastewater treatment, a review of oxidation processes operating at ambient conditions was presented It has been observed that none of the methods can be used individually in wastewater treatment applications with good economics and high degree of energy efficiency Moreover, the knowledge required for the large-scale design and application is perhaps lacking as mentioned in this paper.

C.I. Reactive Black 5 decolorization by combined sonolysis and ozonation

TL;DR: Decolorization of the azo dye C.I. Reactive Black 5 (RB5) in solution by a combination of sonolysis and ozonation was investigated, and it was indicated that the reaction has little dependence on temperature.
Journal ArticleDOI

A mechanistic kinetic model for phenol degradation by the Fenton process.

TL;DR: The model was applied to evaluate the treatment cost of wastewater contaminated with phenol in order to meet environmental standards and analyze the impact of the initial concentration and flow rate of reactants on the efficiency of the Fenton process to degrade phenol.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sonocatalytic and sonophotocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine 6G containing wastewaters.

TL;DR: Overall it can be said that the combined processes give higher extent of degradation as compared to the individual processes based on US or UV irradiations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synergy of electrochemical and ozonation processes in industrial wastewater treatment.

TL;DR: In this article, the effectiveness of electrochemical, ozone and integrated electrochemical-ozone processes on industrial wastewater was evaluated, and the results showed that ozone treatment reduced both COD and BOD 5 by 60% and integration of the two processes at pH 7 and 20μm −2 of current density greatly improved the reduction of COD (84%), BOD5 (79%), color (95%), turbidity, and total coliforms (99%).
Journal ArticleDOI

Intensification of sonophotocatalytic degradation of p-nitrophenol at pilot scale capacity

TL;DR: Maximum extent of degradation was observed for 10 ppm of p-nitrophenol initial concentration (w/v) using combination of sonophotocatalysis and optimum quantity of H(2)O(2).

A review of imperative technologies for wastewater treatment I: oxidation technologies at ambient conditions

TL;DR: In this article, the authors highlight five different oxidation processes operating at ambient conditions viz. cavitation, photocatalytic oxidation, Fenton's chemistry, ozonation, and use of hydrogen peroxide.
