TLDR
In this paper, a systematic search of literature published during the last fifteen years was carried out and based on the analysis on these papers, these advanced design techniques and methods were summed up as three issues: the kinetic properties of the screen body by dynamic modeling, the optimal screening operational parameters by discrete element method and the dynamic design of the body by finite element method.

Development and Verification of the Diagnostic Model of the Sieving Screen

TL;DR: The industrial vibrating screen is investigated on the 6-DOF (degree-of-freedom) dynamical model to reflect all linear and rotational components of spatial motion, and the model accounts for stochastic alpha-stable distributed impacts from the material.
Journal ArticleDOI

An experimentally validated rubber shear spring model for vibrating flip-flow screens

TL;DR: In this paper, a variance-based global sensitivity analysis is applied to actually illustrate that the rubber shear spring is the most important component for the dynamics of Vibrating flip-flow screens.
Journal ArticleDOI

Viscoelasticity of Rubber Springs Affects Vibration Characteristics of a Flip-Flow Screen With the High G Value

TL;DR: Results indicate that hysteretic damping of rubber springs can effectively solve the conflict between vibration strength and structural reliability of the flip-flow screen, since the low sensitivities of maximum stresses and the high sensitivity of accelerations to rubber springs damping are found.
Journal ArticleDOI

Kinematics of a novel screen surface and parameter optimization for steam coal classification

TL;DR: In this paper, a rigid-flexible-coupled elastic screen surface (R-FCESS) was proposed for steam coal classification with 3-mm apertures, and the motion trajectory and vibration mode composition of regions on the R-FCess were investigated by vibration testing technology.
Journal ArticleDOI

A vibration-test-based calculation method of screening material mass of a mining crank-link type flip-flow screen

TL;DR: Flip-flow screen is a key equipment for dry screening of wet fine coal as discussed by the authors, and its working load is of great significance to the screening effect and reliability, in order to obtain material mass load.

Large scale industrial DEM modelling

TL;DR: Particle scale simulation of industrial particle flows using discrete element method (DEM) offers the opportunity for better understanding the flow dynamics leading to improvements in equipment design and operation that can potentially lead to large increases in equipment and process efficiency, throughput and/or product quality as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

DEM simulation of particle flow on a multi-deck banana screen

TL;DR: In this paper, a numerical study of the particle flow on a banana screen at a particle scale by means of Discrete Element Method (DEM) is presented, and the results are analyzed in terms of partition curves, distributions of percentage passing and other flow information, such as particle volume and velocities along the screen deck.
Journal ArticleDOI

Separation performance of double deck banana screens – Part 1: Flow and separation for different accelerations

TL;DR: In this article, the discrete element method (DEM) is used to simulate a full industrial scale double deck banana screen for a range of accelerations, and the nature of the particle flow through this complex machine is explored.
Journal ArticleDOI

Using SPH one-way coupled to DEM to model wet industrial banana screens

TL;DR: In this article, the authors introduced the use of Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) to model the flow of slurry (water and fine material) through a double deck banana screen.
Journal ArticleDOI

Separation performance of double deck banana screens Part 2: Quantitative predictions

TL;DR: In this article, the separation performance of a double-deck banana screen for a peak acceleration of 5g was evaluated using Discrete Element Method (DEM) and the individual contributions of each screen panel were assessed using outputs from the model.
