Hypersensitivity to mosquito bites as the primary clinical manifestation of a juvenile type of Epstein-Barr virus-associated natural killer cell leukemia/lymphoma

TL;DR: It is proposed that this disease, defined as the triad of hypersensitivity to mosquito bites, chronic Epstein-Barr virus infection, and natural killer cell leukemia/lymphoma, is a clinical entity mostly seen in Asians.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mantle cell lymphomas lack expression of p27Kip1, a cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that MCLs, in contrast to other non-Hodgkin's lymphomas and normal lymphoid tissue, fail to correlate p27Kip1 expression with the proliferation rate and this peculiar uncoupling of p27kip1 protein expression from the proliferation rates may be related to the high levels of cyclin D1 expressed in MCL and is likely to have profound effects on cell cycle regulation and contribute to the pathogenesis of MCL.
Journal ArticleDOI

High incidence of chromosomal imbalances and gene amplifications in the classical follicular variant of follicle center lymphoma

TL;DR: The classical follicular variant of follicle center lymphoma (FCL-fo) is associated with the chromosomal translocation t(14;18)(q32;q21) but the sole presence of this translocation is not sufficient for malignant transformation, as demonstrated by experiments in a transgenic mouse model.

Molecular Anatomy of BCL6 Translocations Revealed by Long-Distance Polymerase Chain Reaction-based Assays

TL;DR: The results suggest that BCL6 gene affected by the translocation is transcriptionally activated by a variety of stimuli, including cell cycle control, changes in the physical environment, and response to cytokines.
Journal ArticleDOI

Clinicopathologic analysis of ocular adnexal lymphomas: Extranodal marginal zone b‐cell lymphoma constitutes the vast majority of ocular lymphomas among Koreans and affects younger patients

TL;DR: OALs in Koreans are characterized by a preponderance of primary lymphomas over systemic lymphoma, striking predominance of MALT type lymphomas, and young age of occurrence.
