Social preferences and political attitudes: An online experiment on a large heterogeneous sample

TL;DR: This article investigated the relationship between social preferences and political attitudes and found that selfish subjects are the extremists on the one side of the political spectrum, while altruistic and maximin subjects sit at the opposite end of the spectrum, characterized by benevolence in the domain of advantageous inequality.

Social choice and electoral competition in the general spatial model

TL;DR: The properties of social preferences generated by simple games are investigated; results on generic emptiness of the core are extended; the general nonemptiness of the uncovered and undominated sets is proved; and the upper hemicontinuity of these correspondences is proved.

Do voters vote ideologically

TL;DR: It is shown that using data only on how individuals vote in a single election, the hypothesis that voters vote ideologically is irrefutable, regardless of the number of candidates competing in the election.

Party Polarization in Congress: A Network Science Approach

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measure polarization in the United States Congress using the network science concept of modularity, which reveals both the number of relevant groups and the strength of inter-group divisions without making restrictive assumptions about the structure of the party system or the shape of legislator utilities.

The economic determinants of U.S. presidential approval: A survey

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors study the likely causes for the inconclusive findings and find that the popularity function is instable over time, indicating that the most often employed linear estimation approach is inadequate.
