Biochemical interactions between triticale (Triticosecale; Poaceae) amines and bird cherry-oat aphid (Rhopalosiphum padi; Aphididae)

TL;DR: The quantification of polyamines and tryptamine within tissues of less and more susceptible triticale cultivars to bird cherry-oat aphid to show that shoots of the studied cvs contained such polyamines as putrescine, cadaverine, spermidine and spermine, and aromatic monoamine tryptamines.
Journal ArticleDOI

Yield losses in wheat from yellow spot: a disease-loss relationship derived from single tillers.

TL;DR: Under environmental conditions which particularly favour disease development, the losses derived from this relationship are probably underestimated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biochemical aspects of winter wheat resistance to aphids

TL;DR: The results confirm the interpendence between contents of yellow and orange plant pigments in the leaves of the studied varieties and their preference by the aphids and the differences in the chemical composition of possible attractants and repellants have been analysed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Inheritance of seedling resistance to stripe rust (Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici) in ‘Otane’ and ‘Tiritea’ wheat ( Triticum aestivum)

TL;DR: Two spring wheat cultivars were crossed and the reactions of the F1‐derived double haploid (DH) population to the stripe rust pathogen and the susceptible reaction of both cultivars could be attributed to the presence of genes that may suppress the expression of resistance genes when they coexist in the parents.
Journal ArticleDOI

Epidemiology of Puccinia striiformis f.sp. tritici on wheat in southern New South Wales

PJ Ellison, +1 more
TL;DR: Development of stripe rust was observed on wheat cultivars that differed in reaction to the disease at the post booting stage of growth over 4 years (1984-1987) at Yanco and Wagga Wagga in southern New South Wales.

A decimal code for the growth stages of cereals

TL;DR: The decimal code scale for indicating the growth stages of cereals as developed by the authors and published by Eucarpia is explained and described.
Journal ArticleDOI

The identification of growth stages in winter wheat with reference to the application of growth‐regulator herbicides

TL;DR: A measure of leaf sheath length might replace the ambiguous criteria presently used to judge the stages of winter wheat most tolerant of herbicides.
