Determination of the spatial distribution of trees from digital aerial photographs

TL;DR: The usability of digital aerial photographs seems to be limited for the point-process based determination of the spatial pattern of trees if the scale is 1:5000 or less, and interpretation of crown coverage could have applications in practical forestry due to the low resolution requirements for the images used.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tree Species Classification using Semi-automatic Delineation of Trees on Aerial Images

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for classifying tree species from remote sensing images by combining a semi-automatic pattern recognition technique and spectral properties of trees was developed, where individual trees in the digital colour infrared (CIR) aerial photographs were segmented by a method based on the recognition of tree crown patterns at subpixel accuracy.
Journal ArticleDOI

A unified framework for document restoration using inpainting and shape-from-shading

TL;DR: A restoration framework based on an image inpainting procedure that can separate non-uniform illumination (and other) artifacts from the printed content and a shape-from-shading formulation that can reconstruct the 3D shape of the document's surface that can correct a variety of distortions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Automatic processing of handwritten bank cheque images: a survey

TL;DR: An attempt is made to present the state of the art in automatic processing of handwritten cheque images and discusses the important results reported so far in preprocessing, extraction, recognition and verification of handwritten fields on bank cheques and highlights the positive directions of research till date.
