Effect of high volume fraction of B4C particles on the microstructure and mechanical properties of aluminum alloy based composites

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of high volume fraction of B 4 C particles on the microstructure and mechanical behavior of Al-2024 matrix composites was evaluated, where the composites were fabricated by mechanical milling of the matrix and reinforcement together followed by hot extrusion.
Journal ArticleDOI

Elastic and plastic behavior of a co-continuous alumina/aluminum composite

TL;DR: In this article, the uniaxial deformation properties of an alumina/aluminum composite where both phases are continuous have been studied both experimentally and analytically using the Finite Element (FE) method.
Journal ArticleDOI

Compressive, shear, and fracture behavior of CNT reinforced Al matrix composites manufactured by severe plastic deformation

TL;DR: In this article, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) reinforced aluminum (Al) matrix composites are synthesized using Bc equal-channel angular extrusion (ECAP) route and their mechanical behavior is examined under compression and shear deformation.

NiTi and NiTi-TiC composites: Part IV. Neutron diffraction study of twinning and shape-memory recovery

TL;DR: In this article, the authors performed neutron diffraction measurements of internal elastic strains and crystallographic orientation during compressive deformation of martensitic NiTi containing 0 vol pct and 20 vol pc particles, concluding that the mismatch stresses associated with NiTi plastic deformation are fully relaxed by localized twinning at the interface between the matrix and the reinforcement.

Enhancing tensile/compressive response of magnesium alloy AZ31 by integrating with Al2O3 nanoparticles

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of Al 2 O 3 nanoparticle integration on the enhancement of tensile and compressive properties of AZ31 was investigated in terms of texture changes and failure strain and work of fracture.
