Francesco Menzella,Carla Galeone,Debora Formisano,Claudia Castagnetti,Patrizia Ruggiero,Anna Simonazzi,Luigi Zucchi +6 more
TL;DR: Long-term maintenance treatment with omalizumab for up to 9 years is associated with continued benefits in reducing symptoms, exacerbations, and medication burden without any safety concerns.

Drop-out rate among patients treated with omalizumab for severe asthma: Literature review and real-life experience
Marco Caminati,Gianenrico Senna,G. Stefanizzi,R. Bellamoli,S. Longhi,Fulvia Chieco-Bianchi,Gabriella Guarnieri,Silvia Tognella,Mario Olivieri,Claudio Micheletto,Giuliana Festi,E. Bertocco,M. Mazza,Andrea Rossi,Andrea Vianello +14 more
TL;DR: Treatment adherence is particularly crucial in patients with severe asthma considering the clinical impact of the disease and the cost of non-adherence, and the risk of treatment discontinuation has to be carefully considered both in the experimental and real-life settings.

Cost-utility of add-on omalizumab in difficult-to-treat allergic asthma in Italy.
TL;DR: Omalizumab added to an optimised therapy significantly improves clinical outcomes in difficult-to-treat, persistent allergic asthma and both costs for drugs and hospital care dropped significantly, and the net economic effect was a 350 Euro increase in overall monthly costs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lebrikizumab in the personalized management of asthma.
TL;DR: Two large Phase III randomized controlled trials in patients with uncontrolled asthma are underway to establish the safety and efficacy of lebrikizumab when administered over a 52-week period, and to determine whether identifying patients with a Th2 high inflammatory phenotype using serum periostin allows a personalized approach to the treatment of asthma.

Beneficial Effects of Treatment With Anti-IgE Antibodies (Omalizumab) in a Patient With Severe Asthma and Negative Skin-Prick Test Results
Maarten van den Berge,Ronald G. Pauw,Jan G.R. de Monchy,Cees A. van Minnen,Dirkje S. Postma,Huib A. M. Kerstjens +5 more
TL;DR: A patient with severe asthma and elevated total IgE who had a negative radioallergosorbent (RAST) test result and a negative skin-prick test result is discussed; the patient showed a dramatic improvement with this treatment strategy.

TL;DR: Omalizumab as discussed by the authors is a recombinant humanized anti-IgE mAb, which forms complexes with free IgE, blocking its interaction with mast cells and basophils.
