Biogeochemical cycle of nitrogen in a tropical mangrove ecosystem, east coast of India

TLDR
In this paper, the authors used a box model approach to assess the nitrogen budget in the Sundarban mangrove ecosystem, which acts as a sink for atmospheric nitrogen in terms of NOx, NH3, N2, and water column dissolved inorganic nitrogen.

Impact of Global Change on Nutrient Dynamics in Mangrove Forests

Daniel M. Alongi
- 25 Sep 2018 -
TL;DR: A mass balance shows that mangroves rely on soil ammonification, nitrification, and dissimilatory reduction to ammonium for available nitrogen and the effects of rising seas are complex and depend on the local rate of sea-level rise, the soil accretion rate, the subsidence or uplift rate, and the tidal position.

Spatial distribution and composition of aliphatic hydrocarbons, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and hopanes in superficial sediments of the coral reefs of the Persian Gulf, Iran.

TL;DR: High concentrations of detected petroleum biomarkers in reef sediments were chiefly distributed near main industrial areas, Kharg, Lavan and Siri, whilst the lower concentrations were in Hormoz and Qeshm.
Journal ArticleDOI

Exportation of dissolved (inorganic and organic) and particulate carbon from mangroves and its implication to the carbon budget in the Indian Sundarbans.

TL;DR: Results revealed that mangrove plant derived organic matter and its subsequent degradation is the primary source of DIC and DOC in the Hooghly estuary whereas POC is linked to soil erosion.

Standard methods for the examination of water and waste water.

TL;DR: Alkalinity measurements are used in the interpretation and control of water and wastewater treatment processes and can be interpreted in terms of specific substances only when the chemical composition of the sample is known.

Microphysics of Clouds and Precipitation

TL;DR: In this article, the authors focus on one major aspect of cloud microphysics, which involves the processes that lead to the formation of individual cloud and precipitation particles, and provide an account of the major characteristics of atmospheric aerosol particles.
