Chemical investigations of herbarium material for alkaloids
TL;DR: The plea is made that, wherever possible, wider use be made of herbarium material for chemical studies, and the present state of the art of such physical techniques as mass and nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry for these investigations is commented upon.
Journal ArticleDOI
Protective effect of Jasonia montana against ethinylestradiol-induced cholestasis in rats
TL;DR: Results clearly suggest that the aerial parts of J. montana extract may effectively normalize the impaired antioxidant status in ethinylestradiol (EE)-cholestatic model, and may have a therapeutic value in drug-induced biliary cholestasis as well as in hormonal therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gastroprotective effect of Piper betle Linn. leaves grown in Sri Lanka.
TL;DR: Both HAE and CEE of P. betle leaves have a strong gastroprotective activity against ethanol induced gastric ulcers in rats, and gastroProtective activity of the highest dose of both extracts were significantly greater than that of misoprostol, the reference drug.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antimalarial evaluation of selected medicinal plant extracts used in Iranian traditional medicine
TL;DR: This was the first study to highlight the in vitro and in vivo antiplasmodial effects of C. colocynthis, P. alkekengi, and S. nigrum in Iran.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acute toxicity and in vivo anti-inflammatory effects and in vitro antioxidant and anti-arthritic potential of Scabiosa stellata
Chaima Mouffouk,Leila Hambaba,Hamada Haba,Soumia Mouffouk,Chawki Bensouici,Sara Mouffouk,Messaoud Hachemi,Hachani Khadraoui +7 more
TL;DR: The administration of ethyl acetate extract at doses of 50 and 75 mg/kg prevents a significant acute paw edema and present a higher anti-inflammatory activity than Diclofenac as a positive control.
