Temperature divergence of the dynamics of a poly(vinyl acetate) glass: Dielectric vs. mechanical behaviors
Jing Zhao,Gregory B. McKenna +1 more
TL;DR: It is found that the mechanical response took much longer to age into its equilibrium than did the dielectric response, and the temperature dependence of the time-temperature shift factors obtained from the two methods is different.
Journal ArticleDOI
Measuring the Glass Transition Temperature of Conjugated Polymer Films with Ultraviolet–Visible Spectroscopy
TL;DR: In this paper, a technique for measuring the glass transition temperature (Tg) of thin films of semicrystalline conjugated polymers using only a hot plate and an ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectrometer is described.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dielectric relaxation in carbon black-epoxy composite materials
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used Hill plots to rationalize the effective complex permittivity observations for a series of carbon black (CB)-epoxy composites and provided observational evidence that dipolar relaxation and anomalous low-frequency dispersion are likely the transport mechanisms in these samples below and above percolation.

Molecular Mobility and Cation Conduction in Polyether–Ester–Sulfonate Copolymer Ionomers
Gregory J. Tudryn,Michael O'Reilly,Shichen Dou,Daniel R. King,Karen I. Winey,James Runt,Ralph H. Colby +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the number density of conducting ions, their mobility, and extent of aggregation were determined for all copolymer ionomers that contain polyethylene oxide (PEO).

Influence of Fe2O3 Nanofiller Shape on the Conductivity and Thermal Properties of Solid Polymer Electrolytes: Nanorods versus Nanospheres
Nhu Suong T. Do,Nhu Suong T. Do,Dean M. Schaetzl,Barnali Dey,Alan Seabaugh,Susan K. Fullerton-Shirey +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the influence of nanofiller shape on the ionic conductivity and thermal properties of solid polymer electrolytes is investigated, showing that the long-range morphology of two nanocomposites differs widely, where high concentrations of nanorods will inhibit instead of enhance Li transport.
