Direction-adaptive transforms for coding prediction residuals

TL;DR: These Direction-Adaptive Residual Transforms (DART) are shown to be more effective than the traditional 2-D DCT when coding residual blocks that contain directional features when coding prediction residuals of video.

Fast Motion and Disparity Estimation With Adaptive Search Range Adjustment in Stereoscopic Video Coding

TL;DR: An iterative motion and disparity estimation algorithm that can determine motion vectors of the right view and disparity vector of the current stereo pair in an iterative way and the speed-up gain of this iterative search is due to the use of a stereo-motion consistency constraint.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Deep Homography for Efficient Stereo Image Compression

TL;DR: In this paper, an end-to-end trainable deep network for stereo image compression (ESIC) is proposed, which uses a deep regression model to estimate the homography matrix, i.e., H matrix, and only the residual information between the left and right images is encoded.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Fast intra prediction for HEVC based on pixel gradient statistics and mode refinement

TL;DR: A Pixel Gradient Statistics (PGS) and Mode Refinement (MR) based fast mode decision algorithm that uses pixel gradient information to assist prediction mode selection after Rough Mode Decision (RMD).
Proceedings ArticleDOI

In-loop filter using block-based filter control for video coding

TL;DR: A method of improving coding efficiency is proposed by using the Wiener filter as an in-loop filter that divides the decoded image into some fixed blocks, and decides whether to apply the filter for each block adaptively, so that the coding efficiency can be improved.
