TLDR
An understanding of the behavior of the fire plume and fire-induced flow near the ceiling of a room is necessary if one is to optimize detector response time and placement as discussed by the authors, which is the case in this paper.

Robustness assessment of a generic steel fire-protected moment-resisting frame under travelling fire

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the robustness of a generic four-story moment-resisting steel structure with one-hour fire resistance rating subjected to travelling fire and found that while no collapse occurs during the 12.5, 50 and 100% fire sizes, the structure collapsed under the 25% fire size at 85min due to the inability of the system to transfer the load after one of the columns buckles.

On wall fire interaction in a small pool fire: A large-eddy simulation study

TL;DR: In this paper, a large-eddy simulation (LES) with stochastic fields (SF) method is used to simulate a pool fire in a compartment for different distances from the compartment sidewalls.

Fire safety assessment of semi-open car parks

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used validated Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations of different design variants of semi-open car parks to assess the fire safety level using temperature and sight length criteria for safe deployment of fire department.

Experimental investigation on lateral ceiling temperature distribution induced by wall-attached fire with various burner aspect ratios in underground space

TL;DR: In this paper, the lateral ceiling temperature distribution induced by wall-attached fires with various burner aspect ratios in underground space have been experimentally investigated with a specially designed test rig of 1:8 scale.

Illegal carriage of dangerous goods and their effects on tunnel safety

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the safety impact on a vehicular tunnel of a fire in an unprotected truck carrying illegal diesel in Hong Kong and applied empirical results on spill fires and cooling jet expressions to assess the probable tunnel environment.
