TLDR
In this paper, the possible integration of all types of cations in Mg- and Ca-bearing silicate perovskite phases is discussed using a schematic pyrolitic composition for the lower mantle.

Experimental constraints on crystallization differentiation in a deep magma ocean

TL;DR: In this paper, a lattice-strain-based partitioning model was proposed for cations in the 12-fold site of Ca-perovskite based on previously published data, and the results showed that up to 15% crystal separation of the deep mantle assemblage from an early magma ocean could have yielded a convecting mantle reservoir with superchondritic Mg/Si and Ca/Al ratios.

Compositional effects on element partitioning between Mg-silicate perovskite and silicate melts

TL;DR: In this paper, high-pressure melting experiments were performed on synthetic peridotite compositions with varying FeO and Al2O3 contents and on a synthetic CI chondrite analogue composition.

Equations of state of Na–K–Al host phases and implications for MORB density in the lower mantle

TL;DR: In this article, the authors reported equations of state (EoS) of two important silicate phases known to store Na, K, and Al, at pressures and temperatures prevailing in the Earth's lower mantle.

Al, Fe substitution in the MgSiO3 perovskite structure: A single-crystal X-ray diffraction study

TL;DR: In this paper, the crystal structure of three Fe-Al-MgSiO3 perovksite samples was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, and it was shown that there is no evidence for Fe (Fe 3+ or Fe 2+ ) on the octahedral site.

Fe3+ and Al solubilities in MgSiO3 perovskite: implication of the Fe3+AlO3 substitution in MgSiO3 perovskite at the lower mantle condition

TL;DR: In this article, the starting composition of Mg3Fe3+AlSi3O12 was investigated at 24 and 51 GPa and 2100 K using a laser-heated diamond anvil cell (LHDAC) and an analytical transmission electron microscopy (ATEM) to understand the solubilities of Fe3+ and Al into MgSiO3-dominated perovskite.

Origin of the Earth and Moon

A.E. Ringwood
TL;DR: In this paper, a theory of the origin of the Earth is presented, based on the Mantle-Crust system and the formation of the inner core of the Moon, which is a major component of the outer core.
Journal ArticleDOI

The chemical composition of the Earth

TL;DR: In this paper, the bulk composition of the Earth and the composition of its mantle and core are calculated using the ratios of major and trace elements, without resorting to assumptions about core formation processes.

Equations of State

TL;DR: A detailed guide to the methods by which the parameters of EoS can be obtained from experimental compression data is presented in this article, along with a diagnostic tool for assessing the quality of the results.
