CFD-modelling of natural convection in a groundwater-filled borehole heat exchanger

TLDR
In this paper, a 3 m long borehole containing a single U-pipe with surrounding bedrock was studied by a three-dimensional, steady-state CFD model and the results showed that induced natural convective heat flow significantly decreases the thermal resistance in the borehole.

CFD applications in various heat exchangers design: A review

TL;DR: In this paper, a literature review focuses on the applications of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in the field of heat exchangers, and the quality of the solutions obtained from these simulations are largely within the acceptable range proving that CFD is an effective tool for predicting the behavior and performance of a wide variety of heat- exchangers.

Geothermal energy development by circulating CO2 in a U-shaped closed loop geothermal system

TL;DR: In this paper, a model is developed for simulating CO2 flow in the descending, horizontal and ascending sections of the geothermal well, and two new concepts of critical position and effective distance are proposed.

A low cost seasonal solar soil heat storage system for greenhouse heating: Design and pilot study

TL;DR: In this article, a low cost Seasonal Solar Soil Heat Storage (SSSHS) system used for greenhouse heating was invented and investigated, and the system proved that seasonal thermal energy storage (STES) is feasible and can partially solve the solar heat demand and supply imbalance problem between summer and winter.

Heat transfer analysis of boreholes in vertical ground heat exchangers

TL;DR: In this paper, a new quasi-three-dimensional model for vertical ground heat exchanger (GHE) is established, taking the fluid axial convective heat transfer and thermal short-circuiting among U-tube legs into account.

Reanalysis of the density of liquid water in the range 0–150 °C and 0–1 kbar

TL;DR: The change of density of liquid water under pressure has been calculated from the speed of sound u by fitting u−2 as a polynomial in temperature and pressure, integrating with respect to pressure, and allowing for the difference between isothermal and adiabatic compressions as mentioned in this paper.
