Development of the quiescent center in maturing embryonic radicles of pea (Pisum sativum L. cv. Alaska)

TL;DR: An analysis of the distribution of labelled nuclei and mitotic figures demonstrated the presence of a quiescent center (QC) in the radicles of developing embryos, and cells within the QC synthesized DNA during the first stages of seed germination.
Journal ArticleDOI

Plant management of greenhouse roses. Flower cutting procedure

TL;DR: The principle factor affecting flower production was cane length, which resulted in decreased flower production when compared to an equal bud position of a younger cane.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of Varied Phosphorus Supply on Growth and Xylem Sap Cytokinin Level of Sycamore (Platanus occidentalis L.) Seedlings.

TL;DR: Effects of varying levels of phosphorus (P) on sycamore (Platanus occidentalis L.) growth and on the endogenous cytokinin levels in the xylem sap were tested and there were no P deficiency symptoms even at the lowest P concentration.
Journal ArticleDOI

Retardation of leaf senescence by benzyladenine in bean plants is not dependent on mobilization

N. O. Adedipe, +1 more
- 01 Jan 1971 -
TL;DR: It is concluded that retardation of leaf senescence by BA on intact bean plants is not dependent on mobilization of metabolites from other parts of the leaf.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cytokinins in freshwater algal cultures

TL;DR: Cytokinin-like activity was detected in extracts from the freshwater algae Pandorina morum, Eudorina elegans and Volvox carteri and it is suggested that they act in the growth of the spheroids.
