Engineering Sustainable Engineers through the Undergraduate Experience.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an approach for teaching sustainable development from engineering, economic, and social perspectives, which is challenging to achieve due to the typical focus solely on the "profit" portion of the triple bottom line (TBL), especially in traditional business sectors; challenges in employing non-biased means of evaluating efforts towards sustainable development; constantly changing political environments; and difficulty in coordinating efforts among governments, industries and communities.

Abstract: Degree Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Department Educational Theory, Policy, and Practice Document Type Dissertation Abstract Teachers face increasing demands in the twenty-first century as they engage with students, administrators, coworkers, staff, and parents. High demands and stressors may generate feelings of emotional exhaustion in educators. If left ignored or untreated the emotional exhaustion may eventually lead to burnout and impairment. This prospectus highlights a study designed to explore a preventative option to mitigate the experience of stress felt by student teachers through a structured, guided mindfulness training practice: loving kindness meditation. TL;DR: This research extends the work of Vicary (2002) by looking specifically at the importance of place in Aboriginal worldviews, and how concepts such as ‘country’ need to be understood by non-Aboriginal practitioners for them to be able to provide a quality service that is culturally appropriate.

Mental health among suicide attempt survivors: the roles of stigma, self-disclosure, and family reactions

TL;DR: In this paper, a hierarchical standard regression model including both source and type of stigma was used to examine how stigma, suicide disclosure, and family reaction impact subsequent mental health of attempt survivors and those who have experience suicidal ideation.
