Journal ArticleDOI
Modification of the active site of isocitrate lyase from watermelon cotyledons
TL;DR: Three different amino acid residues have been modified in the active site domain of watermelon isocitrate lyase by diethylpyrocarbonate, 3-bromopyruvate and itaconate epoxide and hydroxylamine reversed inactivation of the enzyme, indicating modification of a carboxylate residue at the active sites.
Journal ArticleDOI
A specific association between the glyoxylic-acid-cycle enzymes isocitrate lyase and malate synthase
TL;DR: Affinity electrophoresis using either isocitrate lyase or malate synthase as the immobilized enzyme clearly shows that associations are formed between both enzymes, and experiments with metabolically unrelated enzymes prove that the observed interaction is specific.
Journal ArticleDOI
The purification and physicochemical characterization of maize (Zea mays L.) isocitrate lyase
TL;DR: The kinetics of the isocitrate lyase-catalyzed cleavage reaction were investigated, and the amino acid composition of the maize enzyme was determined, and a multienzyme complex may be postulated to play a protective role in vivo.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regulation of two loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.) isocitrate lyase genes in megagametophytes of mature and stratified seeds and during postgerminative growth.
TL;DR: Two full-length cDNAs encoding the glyoxysomal enzyme isocitrate lyase (ICL) were isolated from a λZAP cDNA library prepared frommegagametophyte mRNAs extracted from seeds imbibed at 30 °C for 8 days, and results show that loblolly pine ICL gene expression iscomplex.
Journal ArticleDOI
Isocitrate lyase: Artifacts and multiple enzyme forms
TL;DR: Results indicate that isocitrate lyase from P. pinea may be detected in at least three different forms, one of which is heat stable and may be obtained only at the early stages of germination.

T. G. Cooper,Harry Beevers +1 more
TL;DR: With the use of isolated particle preparations, isotopic evidence supporting this conclusion that all enzymatic activities observed in the glyoxysome are sufficient to support rates of acetate metabolism that are greater than those known to be occurring in the intact tissue is obtained.
