Chemical sensors for portable, handheld field instruments

TL;DR: A review of three commonly used classes of chemical sensor technologies as applicable to implementation in portable, handheld field instruments is presented in this article, where the authors evaluate three of the major classes of compact chemical sensors for portable applications: (solid-state) chemiresistors, (solidstate) CHEMFETs, and (optical) surface plasmon resonance sensors (SPR).
Journal ArticleDOI

Dielectric behavior of polyaniline synthesized by different techniques

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of different techniques on the electric properties (dielectric constant, dielectric losses, and complex electric modulus) of the corresponding emeraldine base has been studied.
Journal ArticleDOI

TSDC spectroscopy of relaxational and interfacial phenomena.

TL;DR: Comparison of the data of TSDC and dielectric relaxation spectroscopy (DRS), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), 1H NMR spectroscopic with layer-by-layer freezing-out of bulk and interfacial water, adsorption/desorption of nitrogen, water and dissolved organics demonstrates high sensitivity and information content of the TSDC technique, allowing a deeper understanding of interfacial phenomena.

Synthesis, characterization and low frequency AC conduction of polyaniline/niobium pentoxide composites

TL;DR: In this article, a new type of conducting polyaniline-niobium pentoxide (PANI/Nb2O5) nanocomposites have been synthesized by in situ deposition technique by placing fine grade powder of Nb 2O5 during in situ polymerization of aniline.

Polaron Delocalization in Ladder Macromolecular Systems

TL;DR: It is shown that palladium-catalyzed amination can assemble triarylamine ladder materials with extended structures and the electrochemistry of the ladder systems consists of a multiwave voltammogram with a relatively low first oxidation potential.

‘Polyaniline’: Protonic acid doping of the emeraldine form to the metallic regime

TL;DR: The emeraldine base form of polyaniline, which consists of equal numbers of reduced and oxidized repeat units, is doped to the metallic conducting regime by aqueous 1 M HCl as mentioned in this paper.

Transport and EPR studies of polyaniline: A quasi-one-dimensional conductor with three-dimensional "metallic" states.

TL;DR: This issue is investigated by studying a model polymer, the HCl-doped emeraldine salt from of oriented polyaniline (PAN-ES), through the temperature dependence of the dc conductivity, thermoelectric power, complex microwave dielectric constant, EPR, and electric-field dependence of conductivity.

Microwave transport in the emeraldine form of polyaniline.

TL;DR: In this paper, the conductivity and dielectric constant of the emeraldine polymer were studied at a frequency of 6.5 × 6.9 Hz as a function of temperature T and protonation levels spanning from insulating emeraldines base [${\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{\mathrm{dc}}$(295 K)] to conducting emeraldiners.

Electron localization and charge transport in poly(o-toluidine): A model polyaniline derivative.

TL;DR: In this paper, the electron localization is increased with increasing one dimensionality of a quasi-one-dimensional disordered system (quasi-1D-DS), which is tested by studying electron localization in the methyl ring-substituted derivative of polyaniline (PAN), poly(o-toluidine) (POT).
