TLDR
The Millennium watermark system, the systems proposed for DVD video copy protection by Philips, Macrovision, and Digimarc, and some specific system aspects, such as watermark detector location and copy generation control are addressed.Abstract:Ā
We illustrate the various issues that play a role in designing a copy-protection system for digital versatile disk (DVD) video as perceived by Millennium, one of the two contenders in the DVD-video copy-protection standardization activity. We present the Millennium watermark system, the systems proposed for DVD video copy protection by Philips, Macrovision, and Digimarc. We also address some specific system aspects, such as watermark detector location and copy generation control.read more

Digital Watermarking
TL;DR: Digital Watermarking covers the crucial research findings in the field and explains the principles underlying digital watermarking technologies, describes the requirements that have given rise to them, and discusses the diverse ends to which these technologies are being applied.
Robust Audio Hashing for Content Identification
TL;DR: This paper proposes a scheme that exploits a structured search algorithm that allows searching databases containing over 100,000 songs, and shows that the proposed scheme is robust against severe compression, but bit errors do occur.

Some general methods for tampering with watermarks
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss to what extent a watermark can be resistant to tampering and describe a variety of possible attacks on the watermark and its resilience to normal signal transformations.

Copy protection for DVD video
Jeffrey Adam Bloom,Ingemar J. Cox,Ton Kalker,Johan P. M. G. Linnartz,Matthew L. Miller,C. B. S. Traw +5 more
TL;DR: The copy-protection system currently under consideration for DVD broadly tries to prevent illicit copies from being made from either the analog or digital I/O channels of DVD recorders and provides the capability for one-generation copying.
