Direct determination of 2,3-diphosphoglycerate
Zelda B. Rose,Judith Liebowitz +1 more
TLDR
Either phosphate release or phosphoglycerate formed can be used to measure 2,3-diphosphoglycerates, allowing greater ease of measurement and accuracy than currently used procedures.About:

Control of glucose utilization in working perfused rat heart.
Yoshihiro Kashiwaya,K Sato,N Tsuchiya,S Thomas,David A. Fell,Richard L. Veech,Janet V. Passonneau +6 more
TL;DR: The results illustrate that the control of the metabolic flux in glucose metabolism of rat heart is not exerted by a single enzyme but variably distributed among enzymes depending upon substrate availability, hormonal stimulation, or other changes of conditions.

The determination of the free magnesium level in the human red blood cell by 31P NMR.
R K Gupta,J L Benovic,Z B Rose +2 more
TL;DR: The phosphorus NMR spectra of intracellular ATP in glycolyzing human red blood cells maintained at 37 degrees C in an atmosphere containing 5% CO2 have been obtained and quantitated under completely aerobic and anaerobic conditions.

Biochemical characterization of density-separated human erythrocytes.
TL;DR: Data on a wide range of biochemical and hematological parameters showed that this simple technique can be used to fractionate the cells according to their densities in their own plasma, and significant variability in the activity levels of the ouabain sensitive as well as the Ca2+ -stimulated ATPase was observed.

The phosphoglycerate mutases.
TL;DR: Available evidence indicates that these mutases are similar in many respects to the much smaller, cofactor-dependent monophosphoglycerate mutase from Schizosaccharomyces pombe, but further information is required to define the relationship more precisely.

Reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide-linked analysis of 2,3-diphosphoglyceric acid: Spectrophotometric and fluorometric procedures
TL;DR: 2-Phosphoglycolate is utilized to activate the 2,3-DPG phosphatase activity present in muscle monophosphoglycerate mutase and the resulting change in reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide absorbance or fluorescence is measured.

Effect of organic and inorganic phosphates on the oxygen equilibrium of human erythrocytes
TL;DR: The oxygen affinity of hemoglobin is decreased in the presence of 2,3-diphosphoglycerate over a wide pH range, and at high concentrations of phosphate buffer, diphosphglycerate has practically no effect on the log p1 2 and n values.
