TLDR
The types of discontinuity which can occur in a magnetohydrodynamic fluid with anistotropic pressure are discussed in this article, and rules are given for the identification of the type of discontinuities together with equations to determine their orientation and velocity.

Force‐Free Current Sheets in the Jovian Magnetodisk: The Key Role of Electron Field‐Aligned Anisotropy

TL;DR: In this paper , a new type of the current sheet configuration supported by field-aligned currents from electron streams in the Jovian magnetodisk is examined, which is nearly force-free, with |B| ≈ const across the sheet.

Density jump for oblique collisionless shocks in pair plasmas: allowed solutions

TL;DR: In this paper , a model for pair plasmas was devised to account for kinetic effects within a magnetohydrodynamics (MHD)-like formalism, which relies on an estimate of the anisotropy generated when crossing the front, with a subsequent assessment of the stability of this anisotropic flow in the downstream.

Magnetic field line reconnection in the frame of anisotropic MHD

TL;DR: In this article, the reconnection associated discontinuities such as the Alfven discontinuity, the slow shock, and the contact discontinuity are generalized for anisotropic pressure, and they are extended for isotropic weak reconnection.

Stability of the magnetotail current sheet with normal magnetic field and field-aligned plasma flows.

TL;DR: In this article, the stability analysis of a multi-fluid current sheet configuration that mimics current sheets with transient ions was provided. But the authors focused on the stability of the current sheet with two field-aligned ion flows and zero net flow.

Evolution equation for infinitesimal rotational discontinuities

TL;DR: In this paper, an evolution equation in the form of a modified Korteweg-de Vries equation is developed which describes the small-amplitude version of the infinitesimal rotational discontinuity (RD) studied by Wang and Sonnerup (1984).

Electrodynamics of continuous media

TL;DR: In this article, the propagation of electromagnetic waves and X-ray diffraction of X rays in crystals are discussed. But they do not consider the effects of superconductivity on superconducting conductors.

Discontinuities in the solar wind

TL;DR: In this paper, the existence of a field of MHD discontinuities in the solar wind should make possible the generation of ensembles of shocks and contact surfaces, which can be treated as shock wave or contact surface.

Micro-scale structures in the interplanetary medium

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe and analyze the following micro-scale structures which were found in combined interplanetary magnetic field and plasma data obtained by the deep-space probe Pioneer-6: (1) Several types of simultaneous discontinuities in the magnetic fields and plasma parameters; (2) at least one clear example of a transitional region (D-sheet) associated with a plasma discontinuity; (3) other D-sheets which give evidence of magnetic field annihilation; inhomogeneous isothermal regions in which the square of the magnetic-field intensity is proportional to the
