Efficient production of l-sorbose from d-sorbitol by whole cell immobilization of Gluconobacter oxydans WSH-003

TLDR
The results indicate that maintaining highly active immobilized cells is feasible for the biosynthesis of l -sorbose, and a combination carrier of sodium alginate and diatomite was shown to be biocompatible and durable.

Effects of oxygen-vectors on the synthesis of epsilon-poly-lysine and the metabolic characterization of Streptomyces albulus PD-1

TL;DR: Results indicated that epsilon-poly-lysine synthesis was strengthened from carbon metabolism and energy metabolism with 0.5% n -dodecane in broth, thereby providing more energy for ɛ-PL synthesis.

Current challenges facing one-step production of l-ascorbic acid

TL;DR: Based on the current classical two- step fermentation processes and other potential routes for L-AA production, the challenges and pitfalls of a one-step fermentation process are summarised.

Enhanced production of L-sorbose from D-sorbitol by improving the mRNA abundance of sorbitol dehydrogenase in Gluconobacter oxydans WSH-003

TL;DR: The artificial poly(A/T) tails could significantly enhance the mRNA abundance of the sldhAB, which encodes the sorbitol dehydrogenase (SLDH) and is the first step to produce L-ascorbic acid on industrial scale.

Structural insights into the binding mode of d-sorbitol with sorbitol dehydrogenase using QM-polarized ligand docking and molecular dynamics simulations

TL;DR: The results suggest that the role of His302 is to hold the d -sorbitol, and future replacement of polar amino acids in a surrounding pattern will be helpful to increase the production of sugars by G. oxydans.

Ethanol fermentation in an immobilized cell reactor using Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

TL;DR: The present research has shown that high sugar concentration (150 g/l) in the ICR column was successfully converted to ethanol, and the proposed model can be used to design a lager scale I CR column for production of high ethanol concentration.

On the merits of viable-cell immobilisation.

TL;DR: A review of viable cell immobilisation in the light of published literature and to elucidate the underlying mechanisms pays particular attention to the generally unanticipated, but widely observed enhanced stability of immobilised cell fermentation processes.

Development and modification of PVA–alginate as a suitable immobilization matrix

TL;DR: In this article, the authors reported the immobilization of invertase in the PVA-alginate matrix via a modified method, which involved the treatment of immobilized beads in sodium sulfate solution.
