E. J. Hewitt, +1 more
- pp 67-172
TLDR
The enzymes considered in this chapter include nitrate reduct enzyme, nitrite reductase, hyponitrite reduCTase, hydroxylamine reductases, enzymes of denitrification, and some other enzymes such as aldehyde oxidase with related properties.
Abstract
The enzymes considered in this chapter include nitrate reductase, nitrite reductase, hyponitrite reductase, hydroxylamine reductase, enzymes of denitrification, and some other enzymes such as aldehyde oxidase with related properties. The properties of the various enzymes are described in relation to the different plants and micro-organisms from which they have been obtained1.

Electron Transfer during Sulphide and Sulphite Oxidation in Thiobacillus denitrificans

M. Aminuddin, +1 more
- 01 May 1974 -
TL;DR: Inhibitor studies on sulphide oxidation linked to either oxygen uptake or nitrite reduction indicated that flavin, a terminal oxidase and copper may be involved and a scheme of electron transport during sulphide and sulphite oxidation is proposed.

A Comparison of In Vitro and In Vivo Nitrate Reductase Assays in Three Intertidal Seaweeds

T. E. Thomas, +1 more
- 01 Jan 1988 -
TL;DR: In vitro and in vivo nitrate reductase activities of three species of intertidal macrophytes (Fucus gardneri, Enteromorpha intestinalis, and Porphyra perforata) were compared and showed a much hither affinity for nitrate than the other two species.
Journal ArticleDOI

Intracellular appearance of nitrite and nitrate in nitrogen-starved cells of Ankistrodesmus braunii.

TL;DR: The occurrence of heterotrophic nitrification in nitrogen-starved cells of Ankistrodesmus braunii was confirmed and the possible involvement of microbodies, which were found to be present in Ankistodesmus, in metabolic processes during nitrogen starvation is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nitrate reductase activity and growth in Paul's Scarlet rose suspension cultures in relation to nitrogen source and molybdenum.

TL;DR: Growth and nitrate reductase activity were measured in Paul's Scarlet rose cell suspensions, cultured in media purified from molybdenum and containing nitrate or urea as sole nitrogen source with or without added Mo.
Journal ArticleDOI

The control by phytochrome of nitrate reductase in the curd of light-grown cauliflower

TL;DR: With both monochromatic and broad‐band sources it was seen that neither photon fluence rate nor duration of exposure affected the final activity of the enzyme and that phytochrome was acting solely through ψ (or [Pfr] since phy tochrome is stable in this tissue) to bring about these responses.
