E. J. Hewitt, +1 more
- pp 67-172
TLDR
The enzymes considered in this chapter include nitrate reduct enzyme, nitrite reductase, hyponitrite reduCTase, hydroxylamine reductases, enzymes of denitrification, and some other enzymes such as aldehyde oxidase with related properties.
Abstract
The enzymes considered in this chapter include nitrate reductase, nitrite reductase, hyponitrite reductase, hydroxylamine reductase, enzymes of denitrification, and some other enzymes such as aldehyde oxidase with related properties. The properties of the various enzymes are described in relation to the different plants and micro-organisms from which they have been obtained1.

Enrichment and Physiological Characterization of a Cold-Adapted Nitrite-Oxidizing Nitrotoga sp. from an Eelgrass Sediment.

TL;DR: The laboratory experiments showed that the Nitrotoga enrichment culture could adapt not only to low temperature but also to relatively high concentrations of free ammonia, which helps improve the comprehension of the functional importance of Nitrotogo.

Reduction of Nitrate via a Dicarboxylate Shuttle in a Reconstituted System of Supernatant and Mitochondria from Spinach Leaves

TL;DR: The transfer of reducing power from the mitochondria to the soluble phase via the OAA/malate shuttle can not only provide NADH for cytoplasmic reduction but can also sustain oxidation of tricarboxylic cycle acids and the generation of alpha-ketoglutarate independently of the respiratory electron transport chain.

Nitrosomonas stercoris sp. nov., a Chemoautotrophic Ammonia-Oxidizing Bacterium Tolerant of High Ammonium Isolated from Composted Cattle Manure.

TL;DR: This study isolated an ammonia-oxidizing bacterium tolerant of high ammonium levels, designated strain KYUHI-ST, from composted cattle manure, and proposes and calls for the validation of the provisional taxonomic assignment Nitrosomonas stercoris, with strain KY UHI-S as the type strain.

The effect of nitrate and nitrite on oxygen evolution and carbon-dioxide assimilation and the reduction of nitrate and nitrite by intact chloroplasts.

B. R. Grant, +1 more
- 01 Sep 1970 -
TL;DR: It is concluded that while intact chloroplasts do have the ability to reduce both NO3- and NO2- at low rates, they do not synthesize appreciable amounts of amino acid directly, and this fact must be considered when formulating any pathways for nitrogen metabolism during photosynthesis.
