TLDR
The European Consortium for Astroparticle Theory (EuCAPT) white paper as mentioned in this paper explores upcoming theoretical opportunities and challenges for our field of research with particular emphasis on the possible synergies among different subfields, and the prospects for solving the most fundamental open questions with multi-messenger observations.Abstract:
Astroparticle physics is undergoing a profound transformation, due to a series of extraordinary new results, such as the discovery of high-energy cosmic neutrinos with IceCube, the direct detection of gravitational waves with LIGO and Virgo, and many others. This white paper is the result of a collaborative effort that involved hundreds of theoretical astroparticle physicists and cosmologists, under the coordination of the European Consortium for Astroparticle Theory (EuCAPT). Addressed to the whole astroparticle physics community, it explores upcoming theoretical opportunities and challenges for our field of research, with particular emphasis on the possible synergies among different subfields, and the prospects for solving the most fundamental open questions with multi-messenger observations.read more

The Observation of Gravitational Waves from a Binary Black Hole Merger
TL;DR: The first direct detection of gravitational waves and the first observation of a binary black hole merger were reported in this paper, with a false alarm rate estimated to be less than 1 event per 203,000 years, equivalent to a significance greater than 5.1σ.

Bow-Shock Pulsar Wind Nebulae Searches Aided by the North American Nanohertz Observatory for Gravitational Waves
Christos Giannakopoulos,Timothy Dolch,Shami Chatterjee,James M. Cordes,T. Joseph W. Lazio,Schuyler Van Dyk,Laura Salo +6 more
TL;DR: The North American Nanohertz Observatory for Gravitational Waves (NANOW) is a collaboration of researchers who are actively engaged in using North American radio telescopes to detect and study gravitational waves (GWs) via pulsar timing.
Oscillons after Inflation
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that in a class of well-motivated single-field models, inflation is followed by self resonance, leading to copious oscillon generation and a lengthy period of oscillon domination.
A Reverse Shock in GRB 130427A
Tanmoy Laskar,Edo Berger,B. Ashley Zauderer,Raffaella Margutti,Alicia M. Soderberg,Ragnhild Lunnan,Ryan Chornock +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present extensive radio and millimeter observations of the unusually bright GRB-130427A at z = 0.340, spanning 0.67-12 days after the burst.

A response to O. Arandjelovic's critique of "The reproducibility of research and the misinterpretation of p-values"
TL;DR: The main criticism of my piece in this article seems to be that my calculations rely on testing a point null hypothesis, i.e. the hypothesis that the true effect size is zero.

Constraints on Lorentz invariance violating quantum gravity and large extra dimensions models using high energy γ-ray observations
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the existence of such annihilations via electron-positron pair production interactions up to an energy of 20 TeV puts strong constraints on Lorentz invariance violation.

SpECTRE: A task-based discontinuous Galerkin code for relativistic astrophysics
TL;DR: This work argues that the locality and algorithmic structure of discontinuous Galerkin methods will exhibit good scalability within a task-based parallelism framework and demonstrates the code's scalability including its strong scaling on the NCSA Blue Waters supercomputer up to the machine's full capacity.

Radio signal of axion-photon conversion in neutron stars : A ray tracing analysis
Mikaël Leroy,Mikaël Leroy,Marco Chianese,Thomas D. P. Edwards,Thomas D. P. Edwards,Christoph Weniger +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors extend existing calculations by performing the first three-dimensional computation of the photon flux, taking into account the isotropic phase-space distribution of axions and the structure of the NS magnetosphere.
