TLDR
The European Consortium for Astroparticle Theory (EuCAPT) white paper as mentioned in this paper explores upcoming theoretical opportunities and challenges for our field of research with particular emphasis on the possible synergies among different subfields, and the prospects for solving the most fundamental open questions with multi-messenger observations.Abstract:
Astroparticle physics is undergoing a profound transformation, due to a series of extraordinary new results, such as the discovery of high-energy cosmic neutrinos with IceCube, the direct detection of gravitational waves with LIGO and Virgo, and many others. This white paper is the result of a collaborative effort that involved hundreds of theoretical astroparticle physicists and cosmologists, under the coordination of the European Consortium for Astroparticle Theory (EuCAPT). Addressed to the whole astroparticle physics community, it explores upcoming theoretical opportunities and challenges for our field of research, with particular emphasis on the possible synergies among different subfields, and the prospects for solving the most fundamental open questions with multi-messenger observations.read more

The Observation of Gravitational Waves from a Binary Black Hole Merger
TL;DR: The first direct detection of gravitational waves and the first observation of a binary black hole merger were reported in this paper, with a false alarm rate estimated to be less than 1 event per 203,000 years, equivalent to a significance greater than 5.1σ.

Bow-Shock Pulsar Wind Nebulae Searches Aided by the North American Nanohertz Observatory for Gravitational Waves
Christos Giannakopoulos,Timothy Dolch,Shami Chatterjee,James M. Cordes,T. Joseph W. Lazio,Schuyler Van Dyk,Laura Salo +6 more
TL;DR: The North American Nanohertz Observatory for Gravitational Waves (NANOW) is a collaboration of researchers who are actively engaged in using North American radio telescopes to detect and study gravitational waves (GWs) via pulsar timing.
Oscillons after Inflation
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that in a class of well-motivated single-field models, inflation is followed by self resonance, leading to copious oscillon generation and a lengthy period of oscillon domination.
A Reverse Shock in GRB 130427A
Tanmoy Laskar,Edo Berger,B. Ashley Zauderer,Raffaella Margutti,Alicia M. Soderberg,Ragnhild Lunnan,Ryan Chornock +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present extensive radio and millimeter observations of the unusually bright GRB-130427A at z = 0.340, spanning 0.67-12 days after the burst.

A response to O. Arandjelovic's critique of "The reproducibility of research and the misinterpretation of p-values"
TL;DR: The main criticism of my piece in this article seems to be that my calculations rely on testing a point null hypothesis, i.e. the hypothesis that the true effect size is zero.

Spinning-black-hole scattering and the test-black-hole limit at second post-Minkowskian order
TL;DR: In this article, a simple extension of the 2PM mapping to 2PM order was proposed for BH spins aligned with the orbital angular momentum, which could be employed in the construction of improved effective-one-body models for the conservative dynamics of inspiraling spinning binary BHs.

Radial distribution of the diffuse γ-ray emissivity in the Galactic disk
TL;DR: In this article, the Fermi-LAT data accumulated over 7 years of $\ensuremath{\gamma}$-ray observations, together with the high resolution gas (CO HI) and the dust opacity maps, are used to study the emissivity of cosmic rays (CRs) induced by interactions of CRs with the interstellar medium.

Radio Signals from Axion Dark Matter Conversion in Neutron Star Magnetospheres.
TL;DR: It is shown that axion dark matter may be detectable through narrow radio lines emitted from neutron stars, and the axion-photon mixing equations are solved, including a full treatment of the magnetized plasma, to obtain the conversion probability.

Observational Searches for Star-Forming Galaxies at z > 6
TL;DR: In this paper, the selection techniques for finding distant galaxies, including a summary of previous and ongoing ground and space-based searches, and spectroscopic follow-up efforts, are discussed.

Black holes as particle detectors: evolution of superradiant instabilities
TL;DR: In this paper, a quasi-adiabatic, fully-relativistic analysis of the evolution of the instability of a rotating black hole is presented, showing that the mass of the scalar cloud developed through superradiance can be a sizeable fraction of the black-hole mass, but its energy-density is very low and backreaction is negligible.
