Growth rate inheritance and associations with other traits in backcross populations of Avena sativa x A. sterilis

TL;DR: Improved grain yields in lines of oats from matings of Avena sativa x A. sterilis were found to be due to increased plant growth rate, and it should be possible for oat breeders to combine the high growth rates from A. sterileis with any combination of agronomic traits.

BREEDING AND GENETICS Inheritance of Root-knot Nematode Resistance in M-315 RNR and M78-RNR Cotton

TL;DR: Evaluated mode of inheritance of RKN resistance in M-315 RNR (M-315), a germplasm line with the Auburn 623 RNR source of resistance, and in M78-RNR, a day-neutral version of the race stock line T78 indicate that the Alabama-based source of R KN resistance should be easily transferable to commercial cultivars.
Journal ArticleDOI

Variance Partitioning and Effects of Sex and Age on Morphometric Traits in Randombred House Mice

TL;DR: The effects of sex, age, sex by age interactions, and error were estimated from (unbalanced) two-way analyses of variance for 18 morphometric traits in 1-, 3-, and 5-month-old randombred house mice.

Quantitative Genetics, Molecular Markers, and Plant Improvement

Sushil Kumar
TL;DR: Five major areas of quantitative genetics -number of loci controlling quantitative traits' nature of quantitative trait loci' gene action and effects' epistasis' and genotype x environment interaction -relevant to plant improvement and to molecular marker applications to such improvement are reviewed.
