Fast and robust multiframe super resolution
TLDR
This paper proposes an alternate approach using L/sub 1/ norm minimization and robust regularization based on a bilateral prior to deal with different data and noise models and demonstrates its superiority to other super-resolution methods.Abstract:
Super-resolution reconstruction produces one or a set of high-resolution images from a set of low-resolution images. In the last two decades, a variety of super-resolution methods have been proposed. These methods are usually very sensitive to their assumed model of data and noise, which limits their utility. This paper reviews some of these methods and addresses their shortcomings. We propose an alternate approach using L/sub 1/ norm minimization and robust regularization based on a bilateral prior to deal with different data and noise models. This computationally inexpensive method is robust to errors in motion and blur estimation and results in images with sharp edges. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness of our method and demonstrate its superiority to other super-resolution methods.read more

Photo-Realistic Single Image Super-Resolution Using a Generative Adversarial Network
Christian Ledig,Lucas Theis,Ferenc Huszar,Jose Caballero,Andrew Cunningham,Alejandro Acosta,Andrew Peter Aitken,Alykhan Tejani,Johannes Totz,Zehan Wang,Wenzhe Shi +10 more
TL;DR: SRGAN as mentioned in this paper proposes a perceptual loss function which consists of an adversarial loss and a content loss, which pushes the solution to the natural image manifold using a discriminator network that is trained to differentiate between the super-resolved images and original photo-realistic images.

Image Super-Resolution Via Sparse Representation
TL;DR: This paper presents a new approach to single-image superresolution, based upon sparse signal representation, which generates high-resolution images that are competitive or even superior in quality to images produced by other similar SR methods.

TL;DR: This paper presents the first convolutional neural network capable of real-time SR of 1080p videos on a single K2 GPU and introduces an efficient sub-pixel convolution layer which learns an array of upscaling filters to upscale the final LR feature maps into the HR output.

Bilateral filtering for gray and color images
Carlo Tomasi,Roberto Manduchi +1 more
TL;DR: In contrast with filters that operate on the three bands of a color image separately, a bilateral filter can enforce the perceptual metric underlying the CIE-Lab color space, and smooth colors and preserve edges in a way that is tuned to human perception.
