Gas chromatographic behaviour of carbohydrate trimethylsilyl ethers: I. Aldopentoses

TLDR
In this paper, the four components of each aldopentose were separated as O-trimethylsilyl ethers on several packed and capillary columns, and a mathematical approach was applied which tried to relate structural characteristics with retention indices on several stationary phases.

Ribose and related sugars from ultraviolet irradiation of interstellar ice analogs

TL;DR: The detection of ribose provides plausible insights into the chemical processes that could lead to formation of biologically relevant molecules in suitable planetary environments and suggests that the generation of numerous sugar molecules, including the aldopentose ribose, may be possible from photochemical and thermal treatment of cosmic ices in the late stages of the solar nebula.

Thirtieth anniversary of the retention index according to Kováts in gas-liquid chromatography

TL;DR: In this paper, the main theoretical and practical results relating to retention index systems published in the past 5 years are summarized, and the retention index system according to Kovats solves the problem of the uniform expression of retention data.

Total ascorbic acid determination in fresh squeezed orange juice by gas chromatography

TL;DR: In this paper, a new method for determination of ascorbic acid using gas chromatography was developed and compared to the high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) one.

Identification of binding media in works of art by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry

TL;DR: In this paper, a compilation of analytical procedures based on gas chromatography-mass spectrometry identification of most of the binding media used in works of art, such as oils, wax, paraffin wax, lac resin, terpenic resins, glues and polysaccharides, is presented.

Capillary gas-chromatographic analysis of monosaccharides: improvements and comparisons using trifluoroacetylation and trimethylsilylation of sugar O-benzyl- and O-methyl-oximes.

TL;DR: Two new procedures for the gas-chromatographic analysis of monosaccharides are reported, which probably provides the best resolution achieved to date of the C3-C6 aldoses, as well as of the corresponding alditols.

O-methyl oximes of sugars. Analysis as O-trimethylsilyl derivatives by gas-liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry

TL;DR: In this article, the mass spectra of aldoses, deoxyaldoses, and ketoses containing 3-7 carbons were recorded on the ethers of the trimethylsilyl O-methyl oxime derivatives.
